I am trying to restore a past revision on a page where I am using Cornerstone. Is there a way to do this? When I select a past revision in the WordPress “Publish” section, then go to edit in Cornerstone, the revision does not change. I understand that changes made outside of Cornerstone are not saved within Cornerstone – is there a revision history built into Cornerstone?
This is the area where I am selecting past revisions:
June 9, 2015 at 2:20 am #296583Hey there,
We’re sorry but Cornerstone does not work with revisions. WordPress Revisions affect server performance greatly so that is not recommended to use. If you need backup or need to save previous versions of your work, you can save as template and import it when needed.
Thanks.

August 17, 2015 at 10:13 am #361248So there is no option of restoring former versions of what I have build before?
Since it still shows in wordpress … would be really great if there was a way to do so.August 17, 2015 at 10:44 am #361268Hi there,
We certainly appreciate the feedback! This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive. Thanks!

We add your feedback to our lists. Thank you.
February 11, 2016 at 1:03 pm #791554Yes, please add revisions to Cornerstone. I spent a long time figuring out that it didn’t work and blew away a bunch of work.
If revisions did not work with Cornerstone, it should have been communicated very very clearly up front. That is a major missing feature. Well, it’s not really a feature – you’ve removed basic expected functionality of WordPress.
Please get that going! I’ve bought several X licenses and this gives me pause about getting another one. In a multi-designer scenario, saving “templates” is just not going to work. I can’t see any reason that if you can save a template, you should also be able to save any time and see revisions.
February 11, 2016 at 10:31 pm #792277Hi @dbonneville
Thanks for your feedback. It’s already on our feature list and hopefully will be added soon. Note that Cornerstone is not like the default editor rather a custom visual page builder. So WordPress revisions won’t work on this as Cornerstone pages are stored as serialized data, in the post meta table. So I can’t agree with what you said – “you’ve removed basic expected functionality of WordPress.”
Hope this makes sense.
Cheers!
February 12, 2016 at 11:52 am #793144Totally makes sense, and I see how you have to do it the way you do it. If it’s on the roadmap, that is great! My hiccup here is that hitting revisions actually hosed the page and we had to recreate it in a weird way. The correct version was still being served, but when you went to edit, it brought up some previous version that did not match what was being served. Some tie between the two got broken. We tried restoring any of X copies. The would “restore”. We’d then edit and save it, only to see a different version in the browser. Long story short: the “right” version was in the browser so we left it open in a different browser while we recreated it from scratch so we could do a net new save and clear out the “bug”. There just needed to be a big red sticker “DON’T CLICK THE REVISIONS BUTTON!”
🙂
Looking forward to revisions in Cornerstone though! Very glad to hear that.
February 13, 2016 at 1:35 pm #794400Hi there,
There is added revision feature for the cornerstone, but it’s not properly syncing with WordPress’s revision. Switching revision date back and forth would erase your post_meta revision. WordPress’s default revision is only applicable for post_content.
We’re on it, Stay tuned 🙂
April 8, 2016 at 9:12 am #872886Please let me know WHERE we need to VOTE and/or Communicate that a REVISION option is necessary for X Themes.
I see that you mention above… “All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive.” – but how do we communicate INTEREST to make it a priority? Not to mention… based on “normal” user… they might not realize that REVISIONS WON’T work (until something goes wrong). No one ever uses Fire Insurance until their house has burned down. REVISIONS is my fire insurance.
Thanks!
April 8, 2016 at 11:02 pm #873685Hello There,
Thanks for updating this thread! We certainly appreciate the feedback! This has been added to our enhancements list and our developers is already working on this feature. Once they’ll have it ready, it will be updated and will be rolled in our future update releases.
Thank you for your understanding.
