tristangreyeParticipantNoticed site looks different using various mobile browsers. Some browsers show fullsite which can be zoomed in to read which seems most favorable. Some browsers totally jumble the format. These situations are expected so i decided to build the site twice by duplicating each section. Now that site has sections that have been duplicated(copied) i plan to categorize one fullsite and its duplicate mobile. With two of the same columns i plan to keep the fullsite format the same and but simplify the mobile copy and set the hide feature according to block desktop from seeing changes.
This seems rather cumbersome and not sure what to do as most of clients that visit site use mobile devices. Is there a way to allow option link that allow choice for viewing mobile or full site versions. I love the software but the WYSIWYG view per Cornerstone width doesnt always reflect with you see once site is published online.

John EzraMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating the thread! The best way to handle this will really depend on the complexity of your site. Some design layout include alternating dual column designs. Meaning text column + image column then image column + text Column and so on.
On Desktop this looks nice, but because on mobile this will stack as a single column in the order the columns come in from left to right. It may not look nice to have two images one after the other, then two content block one after the other. This is why we have two layouts and hide certain sections or rows depending on view.
The way you describe is the way to do it. You just now need to apply the Hide Based on Screen width settings for the various sections and/or rows.
Regarding setting up an option to view mobile version or desktop version. This isn’t possible with X or almost any site. The way a site is viewed is different between different devices and user settings. We can’t really force users to view our site in full desktop mode only. Some browsers use very high resolutions if the devices allow for it and this is why some responsive sites will appear their using their desktop view.
Some sites aren’t responsive so it forces this view. Some sites actually have multiple site versions or responsiveness is set to specific devices. This is really hard to do as there are so many devices and again user preference on how they want to view a sit is given to them by the browser apps.
The only way you can separate mobile and desktop view and have users choose is to create two separate sites, turn of responsiveness on both so you can lock in their intended view and the create a single page site that gives the option to redirect to the desktop version or the mobile version.
Alternatively, you can default to a desktop version, and then have a notification to mobile users that they can switch to a mobile view.
Regretfully, neither of these suggestions are features of X. To achieve them a lot of custom development will need to take place to disable responsiveness and create the notification that detects and activates depending on the device. These fall beyond our scope of support and we recommend that you find and engage a developer to assist you with that.
Alternatively, you can find non responsive themes and purchase the stand alone version of Cornerstone if you want to sue our builder on other themes.
We hope that this has help clarify things a little – do let us know if we can assist with anything else. Thanks!

tristangreyeParticipantMost of my clients customers are 70% mobile users. What would you suggest I do in regard to responsive design? Its looks perfect in desktop chrome, the rev slider format is off in IE and the mobile devices are all unattractive. What should we do as we love the X theme. Besides we have invested too much time and energy in perfect site using this template platform.
I also have another question you may be able to help with. In a responsive situation where your video mastheader doesnt play on mobile devices (rev slider) how can you creation alternative option to use a different slider with simple animation (ken burns) rather than just a plain fallback image? Thanks!

ChristianModeratorHey Tristan,
The only way for that in X is to use Hide Based on Screen Width feature. If you want a feature that allows users to choose mobile or full site versions, that would need a plugin or custom developed function. There is no short solution to this as this solely depends on your design and creativity in using X or designing around X’s available features.
Regarding the video background, regretfully, there’s no alternative. It could be possible with custom development though that falls outside the scope of our support. You might want to hire a front-end specialist to help you achieve what you need.
Thank you for understanding.
