Steve CParticipantThere are currently issues with the server my site is hosted on. I have been advised that it would be best to rebuild / restore the site on a new/different server. They advise against a rstore from a backup, to ensure that any current bugs are not transferred to the new server. The domain will stay the same but there may be some downtime with DNS propagation to the new server.
I’d also like to ensure that all the bundled plugins with X (i.e. visual composer) work correctly after setting up on the new server.
Do you have any advice on how best to achieve this while retaining all my styling, child themes and X settings?
Would it be ebst to restore the database or setup a new one?
Thanks,

DarshanaModeratorHi there,
Thanks for writing in! You can go through our migration guide here (https://community.theme.co/kb/cornerstone-migration/).
Also you can simply copy your child theme’s folder into your new site (/wp-content/themes/) and activate your child theme. Plugins you can install separately after the migration (you will need to validate X theme first).
Thanks!

Steve CParticipantThanks but I’m not sure if the link you sent is applicable to what I’ve asked. I don’t use Cornerstone, as I much prefer visual composer.
Also I will not be changing my domain, I am moving the site onto a new server with a clean install of WordPress.
If you have any other advice, I would appreciate it, but I guess I’ll just need to try to figure it out myself.February 16, 2017 at 10:27 am #1373734
JoaoModeratorHi There,
The link above is still valid.
I reccomend you to use All In On Migration plugin, Export your site than Import on your new wordpress installation.
If you import to a temporary domain you will need to run Better Search and Replace once you have changed the domain to the original and final domain. To avoid that, you can > export your website. Point the domain to your new hosting name servers, once your NS have propagated and you are on your new wordpress installation on your domain, you can import your site.
Hope it helps
