Hello,
Please advice on how to re-create Ethos Home Page – Main Menu under Ethos Stack (http://theme.co/x/demo/ethos/1/).
Note that under this URL https://theme.co/x/member/demo-content/ and “Homepages visual composer” there is no file to be downloaded for Ethos 01?
Do I need to buy additional plugin Visual Composer if I wanna implement this layout or any other layout for that matter?
Is there any alternative if I wanna go without Visual Composer WP Plugin.
Thank you for your prompt reply.
Best
A.
October 7, 2014 at 12:57 pm #120737Hi A,
Thank you for writing in!
The demo content isn’t available for Ethos 01 as mentioned here: http://theme.co/x/member/kb/demo-content/ (at the bottom):
The demo for Ethos 01 simply utilizes some Ethos-specific magazine options while assigning the front page of the installation to display the latest posts instead of a static page. To display your latest posts on the homepage of your site, go to Settings > Reading in the WordPress admin area and ensure that Your latest posts is selected for the Front page displays option. Once you have done that, you will also want to ensure that the Post Carousel, Post Slider, and Filterable Index are enabled in Customizer. For more information on this, please refer to the Ethos Customizer video available in the Knowledge Base.
Hope this helps. 🙂
Thank you.
October 14, 2014 at 9:55 am #124988Hello,
Thank you for your reply.
I have seen this paragraph.
However, the question still remains the same.
How can I get the layout and look of the Ethos 1 template:http://theme.co/x/demo/ethos/1/
I have installed your theme already on this domain: http://doratatalovic.com but, as you can see. this is far cry from the example above.
Looking forward to read from you
Best

October 14, 2014 at 2:34 pm #125219One thing that I can see is missing are blog posts once you add several blog posts with featured images I believe you will be closer to the “look” of Ethos 1. Ethos is a stack very much dependent on individual posts. I hope this helps.

To create Menus, Go to Appearance > Menus and click on create a new menu link. Enter the name of the menu and click on Create Menu button. Now select pages you want to add in the menu including Shop. Make sure you update the menu after changes.
Let us know how this goes!

Please use X theme. Your site now uses the default theme (see attachment). Also, your screenshots failed to be uploaded due to file size. Please reduce the file size or upload them in http://imgur.com/
The purpose of Filterable Index (filter by topic) is to display posts from the chosen category only. For your other questions, please see https://community.theme.co/kb/customizer-ethos/ to learn more about Ethos.
Thanks.

Thanks for the details. I am not sure which domain name you installed X theme in but when I checked http://doratatalovic.com, it seems like it is using another theme.
But I will try to answer some of your questions.
Blue arrows are indicating posts. What’s the criteria for the posts to appear here (in terms of order, as 1. 2. 3rd)?
There are options available in
Appearance > Customize > Ethos > Display
. Currently, the options are only limited to what are listed. Selecting theFeatured
option will give you a better option on selecting which specific post you want to be displayed in that area. Please note that if you selectFeatured
, you will have to go to the edit post section and enable the option forPost Carousel Display
underEthos Post Setting
. You can further customize it through custom coding like the post sort order but unfortunately, is beyond the scope of our support but also depends on what kind of changes you require.Red arrow is indicating the latest posts. Latest by the date of publishing? The next one when click on the right arrow will be the oldest, and left arrow the previous one?
Yes it is based on the publishing date where the latest one is displayed first and clicking the right button will go to the previous post and so on.
Posts here (the latest post) will keep on changing. In which order, what’s the criteria here?
Are we talking here about my blog posts?Newest to oldest, and yes they are your blog posts.
What’s the idea behind “filter by topic” section?
Filter by topic will filter the posts that will be displayed in the homepage in real time when you select the
category
in the options.Text marked with the blue arrow is post too or the page?
Yes they are blog posts.
Text marked with the red arrow, the post. How did you exactly position it there, including the image?
How about the one further down (what your watch says about you), live pageWhen you edit the post, under
Ethos Post Settings
which is the IndexFeatured Post Size
option. On the right side are boxes “trending” and “popular”. What’s the criteria to appear here? This is for posts or pages?
Those are widgets that you can set in
Appearance > Customize > Widgets > Main Sidebar
.Hope this answers your questions.
