Apologies if this question is inappropriate for this forum but I don’t really know where else to ask it. I figure I’d get some advice here since the integrated Revolution Slider plugin seems integral to the styling of the X theme and the promotional demos it comes with.
Anyway I’ve never used a slider before and am wondering how they fare in the context of SEO. I watched your video on sliders and ultimately my goal is to have a full width video background with a transparent caption slide on top of it. I’m not looking to use multiple slides or anything like that. All I want on top of the video is my company logo and the h1 title of the page. Do I really need a slider to do this? Or is there some other way of having a video header with the X-theme?
Googling about sliders and SEO, a common opinion I hear expressed is that sliders don’t do anything for click-through rates and can harm SEO by pushing content down, having too many h1 tags etc. I’m presuming that if I only want one static slide with my h1 title over a video background then that doesn’t apply to me. I guess I’m wondering if what I’m looking to do with the slider is good SEO practice? Or is it more usual to have the h1 title below the slider area?
May 13, 2015 at 4:03 pm #272902Hi there,
Thanks for writing in! For the video header, you’ll need to use the revolution slider. You can add SEO information when you add/edit slides to your Revolution Slider gallery – whenever you add a layer to a slide, there’s a place where you can enter text (titles Layer Params, on the bottom left of the Edit Slide screen).
Add the relevant HTML tags (such as alt), and don’t forget to save and publish your work.

that field allows me to type alot of text in it but when I save and then come back it’s just put “…” after the first couple words as if it has cut off the rest of my words. Does that mean I really only have that very small space to put in keywords?
thanks…February 19, 2016 at 6:19 am #803167Hi Leanna,
To help you better, can you give us a screenshot of this layer params with your content? Then please do give us admin credentials on private reply so we can check further.
Always,

That area is for layer naming purposes only (used for identifying layers visually), and should be limited to few words only.
Thanks!
February 20, 2016 at 7:40 pm #804920ok, so I’m looking on the bottom left of the slide screen for a place where I can add SEO title layer params etc. Please tell me where to find this area, as you mentioned above:
