I have a question or two.

    1.

Is there a way to purge the cornerstone cache? I have purged browser cache multiple times but when I go and edit a post in cornerstone it brings up old url links – even though I changed

Let me explain what I did. I decided I did not like my permalink structure so I changed it. I had to go and change every link everywhere throughout my site to the new link structure. However, if I go into “Edit in Cornerstone” it will change all the links in the post back to my old structure. This is really frustrating because my posts each contain numerous links to other posts in my site.

Sorry if this has been covered before but I can’t find it in the knowledge base.

    2.

What happens if I disable and then re activate cornerstone? I’m scared to try it. Or even what if I delete cornerstone and then reinstall it? Again, I’m scared to try it.

    Thank you!

    Hi there,

To remove temporary cache, please try to install and run Transient Cleaner (https://en-ca.wordpress.org/plugins/artiss-transient-cleaner/).

    1. Install Transient Cleaner
    2. Navigate Dashboard -> Tools -> Transients
    3. Set Clear Expired Transients -> Enable
    4. Select Run Now
    5. Set Remove All Transients -> Enable
    6. Set Remove All Transients -> Optimize Afterwards
    7. Select Run Now
    8. Recheck your Cornerstone for functionality

Also you can disable/delete Cornerstone plugin and then re-install if needed. All your data will be saved in the database so it is safer to do that.

    Thanks!

Thank you for your reply. So are you saying that it’s safer to disable/delete Cornerstone plugin then re-install it first before trying the transient cleaner option?

    Hi there,

Let’s try installing a fresh copy first and try transient cleaner if the issue still persist.

    Cheers!

No dice. I used both methods and as soon as I pulled up a post and hit “Edit in Cornerstone” the old links were back. I wonder what’s going on? Also, my product posts were all super fast a couple of days ago and now they are much slower. And, when I select a category link it goes to a crawl. I’m not sure what happened. I probably screwed stuff up somehow. I’m really good at that.

    Hello There,

Are you using CloudFlare? The Cornerstone builder takes place on the front end, so sometimes Cloudfare tries to cache its resources. This can cause stale data to be loaded. To resolve this, you’ll need to disable Cloudfare when the builder is in use. This won’t effect front end performance at all.

    1. Log into CloudFlare and navigate to “Page Rules”
    2. Add a new rule using this URL pattern: *.example.com/*?cornerstone=1
    3. Under custom caching, enable “Bypass cache”
    4. Turn Performance “Off”

If you’re still having issues editing a page, you may need to login to Cloudfare again and purge the cache.

I created and tried the page rule you specified and cornerstone would not load. I had to use this rule instead https://www.essentialloils.com/*?cornerstone* Now cornerstone loads up just fine but the original problem remains where the old url’s get added into my links when clicking “Edit In Cornerstone”.

Next thing I did was went to cloudflare and purged all cache. Then I tried a different post in a different web browser with clean browser cache and got the same problem.

I went back to cloudflare and dumped cache again. Next, I went to the cloudflare overview page and clicked the Advanced tab under Status and paused my site to make “Status – Paused”. They said this bypasses cloudflare altogether.

Then I installed a fresh browser on my computer (firefox) and tried it. Same problem.

    I’m stumped.

    Hi there,

It seems to be okay now. May I know what old URLs are appearing? Is it the one on your navigations?

    Thanks!

I figured it out by running a plugin called Broken Link Checker. It found all instances of the old url’s. It was great! I could change the link and it updated all instances sitewide. In just a few minutes I had corrected hundreds of messed up links. Amazing. So I’m not sure what caused the original issue but Broken Link Checker plugin fixed it. I was a little nervous to use it because it hasn’t been updated in a while but everything worked out.
