Hi, I installed WPML in order to have a French and English version of my website:

In WPML settings, there’s an option to display a language switcher (dropbox box) within a WP menu. I selected Footer, but it looks like there’s a problem with the styling where both languages appear instead of a dropdown box. Can anyone help me fix it? (it’s at the bottom of the page right now)

    Hey,

when you put it into the header/top navbar does it work fine? Can you try for troubleshoot purpose. Thanks!

    I tried various locations:

    – In Main Menu, it shows up as a regular menu item (which I don’t want)
    – In the sidebar (as a widget), the language switcher looks fine, but that’s not where I want it
    – In the footer, the language switcher doesn’t appear as a dropdown, as if the styling was broken

Can you take a look at it?

    Here’s a screenshot :

What I want is to have a dropdown in the footer (in green).
It seems to work fine in a widget area; not sure why it’s broken in the footer.

I’m not sure why this thread is marked ‘resolved’ – still trying to make this work.

    Hey Jean-Louis,

Thanks for writing in! Regarding the marked as “resolved,” we do this as soon as we answer a question the first time. This is more for our internal use to see what questions we have responded to already. We will of course work with you to find a solution to your question. Additionally, per our forum rules, please do not “bump” your thread as this will actually mean that you have to wait longer for a response from us due to the way we go through things here. This is listed out in the sidebar for you to review if you haven’t already, thanks!

This error appears to be due to the fact that it is appending these links to the navigation in the footer, and this navigation does not support styling for multilevel menus such as this dropdown. Is there a way that you can specify where you want this dropdown to appear (i.e. not in this navigation, but somewhere else in the footer)?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

    I have the same problem.

Trying to do exactly the same thing as Jean Louis but the language switcher takes on the styling of the menu.

    How to fix this?

    Anthony

    Hey Anthony,

You will want to edit or override the CSS of the plugin. We can help you with a bit of CSS. Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Thanks.
