    Parent Theme: X theme v1.8.2
Child Theme: X theme Integrity v1.0.0
    X Shortcodes: v2.0.10
    WP: 3.9

Added a headline and image into the page using visual composer, no problem.
    Added accordion OK
Added first accordion item element OK

Tried to edit the first accordion item….
    1. Tried to paste text into the VISUAL content. Cursor would not come into this box. Text was not visible in VISUAL editor unless I highlighted it – i.e. it behaved as if the text (in visual editor) was coloured white. Errr.
    2. Switched to TEXT version and was able to paste text and see/edited pasted text.
    3. Added parent ID
    4. Added title

When I SAVED the accordion item the result showing in the VISUAL COMPOSER was totally unexpected…
    a. The text I had entered was not present
    b. For some reason the theme/composer had copied and pasted the code from other elements in the Visual Composer

I tried to view the accordion item text (VISUAL view) and again nothing was visible

In the page editor (CLASSIC VIEW and VISUAL COMPOSER) you will see that several elements have been replicated for some bizarre reason – and the text I had entered into the accordion item has been over-written

This is a critical issue in my development for this client and I would much appreciate your urgent review and advice – whether that is a fix to fix the theme or correction because I have done something wrong.

Yes, of course I could scrap my work and NOT use the visual composer and just try to use the X shortcodes – but I want to build consistently throughout the site using the same methods with the visual composer. I have no idea where to start troubleshooting this.

If you want a login just let me know and I will send it to you.

It’s a fantastic theme and I hope the support is equally as fantastic – and I am happy to hold my hands up if I have screwed up and done something wrong.

    Nick

PS: BTW it might be useful to allow members to upload images form the support page so we can send screenshots easily rather than have to provide you with a URL to view our screenshots.

    Hi Nick,

    Thank you for writing in!

    Parent Theme: X theme v1.8.2
Child Theme: X theme Integrity v1.0.0
    X Shortcodes: v2.0.10
    WP: 3.9

If you upgrade your wordpress to 3.9, you should also upgrade x theme and its plugins. This is common issue on old visual composer running on top of wordpress 3.9.

    Thank you.

    I have:
    Parent Theme: X theme v2.0.0
Child Theme: X theme Integrity v1.0.0
    X Shortcodes: v2.3.3
    WP: 3.9

and am having the same issue.

I’m unable to provide a login for review due to company policy, but I have updated the theme and x-shortcodes plugin and am unable to edit any pages created with the Visual Composer.
    The following happens:
    – Click Edit Page from the page itself,
    – Go to the little pencil icon to edit a section in Visual Composer – Classic Mode
    – The WYSIWYG in the visual tab shows nothing (when I inspect it – the text is there, but is colored white BUT instead of text only it’s showing text and html tags
    – When I go to the text tab I can see all of the code but when I make an edit and save it then go back to the edit page where you see of the visual composer elements you’ve set up – you see shortcodes in the section you made edits to.

We are trying to update production in the morning and need to know how to fix and test asap please.

    UPDATE 7/31:

Even after looking through documentation and troubleshooting, I still had some trouble so here are the steps I took in case it helps someone else:

    1. Download updated x theme files from themeforest.
    2. Extract all files from the zip file and open to find the file named ‘x’
    3. FTP – open up WP themes directory
    4. FTP – move entire ‘x’ theme folder over (choose to overwrite all files)
    5. FTP – open WP plugins directory
    6. FTP – delete these plugin folders (js_composer, x-shortcodes)
    7. WP cpanel – go to plugins page and theme will have notification at the top saying X-Shortcodes and Visual Composer need to be installed.
    8. Click the link under that notification to install the plugins – (it will take you to another page showing the 2 required plugins)
    9. Click the install link under each plugin name (start with x-shortcodes)
    10. Reload the plugins page and go to the X-Shortcodes and Visual Composer plugins and click ‘Activate’
**Note: the visual composer plugin is a large file and may not install correctly through the cpanel – if you run into issues with it:
    a. delete the js_composer folder again through ftp
    b. pull the updated js_composer zip file from /x/framework/plugins (*in the updated theme files you downloaded)
    c. extract files in the zip folder
    d. load files in wp-content/plugins/ through ftp
    e. go back to the cpanel plugins page
    f. find the Visual Composer plugin and click ‘Activate’ (theme’s notification and activate link at the top of the page didn’t work)

**I got a white screen and then a 503 error the first time I tried to activate the VC plugin – had to reset the server so it didn’t cache the files and then the site loaded and I was able to activate the plugin.

    Hope this helps someone!
