Yikes! When I reactivated my old theme some weird text appeared right on the Themes page in WordPress, and also the X theme won’t delete. The weird text is:

I tried to reactivate X and got the following error:

so I have manually deleted X and am currently reinstalling it.

Ok I completely uninstalled X along wht the shortcodes and reinstalled, installed the shortcodes, checked all plugins were active (and any plugins not related to X were deactivated), and only then activated X, but we now have the exact same problem – in the Visual Composer the page located at http://www.leannacinquanta.com/home-2 looks fine, but out on the internet live, it is nothing but a white screen. No more errors showing up in the Themes page (the errors only show up when my old theme is activated, so apparently something has now gone wrong with it, making this extremely urgent that we get X up and running soon!!!) PLEASE HELP ME GET THIS THING RUNNING…I’ve done everything in my power. You have my login info, please log on and find out why I’m getting only a blank white screen.

Hey, I just wrote to my server and they verified no problem with the server or memory, but they did find these errors through the wp-debug: (note whenever it says “Larisa” that is the name of my old theme but that is not activated, X is activated and waiting for you to fix it PLEASE…

Hi there,

FTP (File Transfer Protocol) is a way for us to work directly with the files on your site. A cPanel or other server login would work as well. With server access, we’ll be able to find out what error is causing the white screen.

Taking a look at this:
/home/tellasia/public_html/leannacinquanta.com/wp-content/themes/Larisa/functions.php

Do you have another theme active? If so, can you please reactivate X? We’re unable to provide support for 3rd party themes, or anything not X related.

Or did you rename the X theme folder? This could be causing issues. Please rename the theme folder back to “x” and see if this makes a difference.

Finally, you could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

Hi Leanna!

Since the error is coming from the old theme, please rename the Larisa theme to something else then activate the X theme. Remove all cache, browser cache, including one on the server if there is any.

Hi Leanna,

I’ve tried both your FTP credentials, and the cPanel credentials. Neither is working. Please double check these, and let us know what we can use.

In the meantime, if you can get to your dashboard I’d advise doing this:

1. Deactivate ALL plugins

2. Switch to TwentyFourteen theme

3. Check if the home page is accessible.

4. If so, activate X (not the child theme) See if you the front page loads.

Let us know what you find out. Looking forward to getting those credentials so we can get to the bottom of this.

Hi Leanna,

There is something wrong with your host(windows), and this commonly happens on windows. In which a current service or application does not have permission to certain folder. In your case, it is “/tmp” folder. All upload goes to temporary folder, before it goes to its final path but it cant access /tmp folder. Which also maybe the reason your theme uploaded was faulty. I am not sure though, as I am not windows hosting expert 😛 . But, your x theme is now fixed, I updated your x theme and its plugins. Though, errors that are not related to x are still not fixed.

Hi Leanna,

What you need to do is change file permissions on your tmp folder and possibly all your folders. In FileZilla this is an easy process and this article goes through how to do it – http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/how-to-change-file-permissions-using-filezilla-on-.html

All permissions need to be set for this folder so at the bottom you should see 777.
