Hi, I wish to start using the Portfolio feature of X but cannot get the images to display.

I have images uploaded to the item with the following settings
Media type = Gallery
Featured content = Media

However there is no image on the portfolio page. When you select the item text via the portfolio page, the portfolio item opens but there is no featured image at the top of the page and the gallery images below are not selectable.
Can you please help?
I have tried adding new portfolio items as well as modifying existing items but it simply does not work as it should.

Hi there,

I checked the box ‘Featured image’ from screen options located on top right of page, now you can add featured image.

Hi,

Thank you for that but it still is not working.
The image for Smiths Concepts Custom Paint is not showing on the portfolio page. The image for Demo: Monterrey Blue is showing and you can scroll through the images.
The feature image for Smiths Concepts Custom Paint is not showing on the item page. For Demo: Monterrey Blue the feature image is showing and you can scroll through the images.

Please see the following items, one seems to work correctly and the other does not.

Hi There,

For Smiths Concepts Custom Paint you have selected to display gallery as instead of featured image. Please note that for this to work, the images should be uploaded on this portfolio item and not selected from existing media content. You may delete the image from content area, but it is already added on the gallery. See that I upload a test image, selecting from existing image wont work.

Thank you that helped and we are making progress.
Prior to following your instructions I deleted my item as well as all of the images that I was using. I then followed your instructions. I find it odd that you cannot add images from the media library and must upload them at the time of creating the item, especially as after uploading them to the item page they are then in the media library anyway.

I now have the item on my Portfolio page and the images can be scrolled through. However there are still some problems that I am experiencing as follows.
1. I cannot click on or open the item from the Portfolio page. http://dna-paints.com/portfolio/
2. On the portfolio page, the title box for Smith Concepts Custom Paint has a very long black box with nothing in it. I believe this box should only display the title which is 2 lines of text? Other items seem to only have a box large enough to fit the title text.
3. No text or links can be selected on the item page. http://dna-paints.com/portfolio-item/smith-concepts-custom-paint/

Further to my last message I just noticed that if you are scrolling through the item images for Smiths Concepts Custom Paint on the Portfolio page. http://dna-paints.com/portfolio/
After you scroll to another image the title text link to open the item becomes selectable for about 1/2 a second and then becomes un-selectable again.

I have another 2x questions now that I have managed to upload a few items.

Q1. How can I choose a default display image for an item? e.g. Currently for Hewlett Customs http://dna-paints.com/portfolio-item/hewlett-customs/ it is displaying an image that I do not want as the default image. Is there a way of choosing which image displays? I have the image that I want displayed listed 1st in the item but it doesn’t pick it up.

Q2. While logged in and editing the Accredited Painters page http://dna-paints.com/accredited-painters/ If I click view page I get error as per attached image. Why is it doing this?

I’m sorry but I do not understand what they are talking about on the link you provided.
Firstly it seems they are talking about sliders not images. It also suggests I should change parent ID’s and break associations etc. but doesn’t tell me how any of that is done?
After saying to do those things it then it says perhaps a better approach is to use the posts featured image as a slider??? I can’t even get my desired feature image to display as a featured image let alone put it into a slider.

This Portfolio page seems temperamental at the best of times when it comes to images. Is it even possible to start changing images to be a Slider without out deleting and re-uploading images or deleting the item and recreating it with a Slider and re-uploading images?

To date I have had great results building our site using X-Theme with a few plugins such as and Envirgallery and Woocommerce.
If we are not able to resolve this issue. Do you know of, or can you recommend a premium portfolio plugin that we can purchase and run with X Theme? We do not wish to install plugins that are not supported.

We’re sorry but we could not give a recommendation as that would need a consultation service. But, any plugin that follows WordPress best practices should work with X.

Hi There,

1.)The image is attached to that porfolio item. What we can do is remove the current attachment.
Go to Media > Search for the current image attached to that portfolio > Lets say HC-01.jpg.
Click Edit > Attachment Details Popup will open.
On lower right part of the popup, you can see View Attachment Page link. Click it.
That will lead you to this:http://dna-paints.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4050&action=edit
Click Delete Permanently link on the left side of the Update button. This step will release/detach the image from the portfolio. You may do this to all other images attached to this portfolio. Then try to attach/upload images again. By default the images will be ascending order. So take note of the names of the images.

2.) Under Portfolio settings > reselect the options and then save again.
