    Hello-

I set up 3 portfolio pages, portfolio categories and named my portfolio URL slug “Products”. I then went and changed my permalinks to post title and saved. (i also repeated this process just to make sure everything was set up correctly). It was after i changed my permalink structure that the individual portfolio item links no longer worked and now they all direct to a “Page you are looking for is no longer here” error.

I don’t get it! I’ve read all of the forum posts and I have checked the slug and the permalinks and can’t seem to get it working.

    Site URL: http://69.195.124.208/~jgrobinc/jgrobwp/
    Portfolio URL: http://69.195.124.208/~jgrobinc/jgrobwp/product-categories/best-sellers/
    Portfolio Item URL: http://69.195.124.208/~jgrobinc/jgrobwp/products/creative-candle-tall-tapers/

wordpress, theme & shortcode all updated to newest versions today.

    Hi Brianne,

You can control the portfolios permalink at CustomizerPortfolioCustom URL Slug

After you have saved the permalink structure in Customizer

    Go to WP-AdminSettingsPermalinksSave Changes

For detailed guide on portfolios do checkout the link below

    Thanks

    Hello,
Yes I’ve done this several times repeating the exact steps in the instructions and I am still getting an error on the archive page.

    Hi Brianne,

Have you tried using different slug? As I checked, some links redirect me to another existing category. So might be slug and naming conflict. May we request login for your site so we can do quick check of your admin?

    Thanks You.

    Hi Brianne,

I’ve taken a look, and you’re plugins are out of date. Can you please update everything to the latest version?

    X Theme v1.8.1
    X Shortcodes v2.0.10
    Revolution Slider v4.3.3
    Visual Composer v4.0.4

The easiest way would probably be to delete the plugins entirely. Then switch to the main X Theme (not child) You should be prompted to reinstall the plugins, and they’ll be the latest version at that point.

    Hello,

I’ve updated all plugins as suggested and then switched back to running the site on the child theme and am still getting the error.

    Hi Brianne,

I just noticed that you have conflicting permalink structure. Though I am not sure what causing this. I installed a new copy of wordpress and x locally, copied your settings and slugs and are working fine.

The issue is that permalink for category and product were the same.

    Product links :
    /products/product-sample/

    While category should like :
    /products/product_category/category-sample/

But, something is forcing it to be like /products/category-sample/. And wordpress recognize that as product and not category because of missing ‘product_category”. And because of this conflicting setup, you will get 404 pages.

Could you try fresh installs without other plugins? And let us know if it works.

    Thank You.

So you mean to delete and re-install the theme and test before adding back the plugins?

    Hi Brianne,

You could install new wordpress in a sub-folder of your site. We don’t advice editing of your live site until we find what causing this.

    Thank You.

Ok so install a new wordpress in a subfolder, install the theme, and should I import the content/data file along with the plugins?

So sorry, you’re talking to a novice here 🙂 If you could give me the specific instructions that would be great!

    Hey Brianne,

Yes, import the content and the settings but don’t install third party plugins (the ones not included with X).

    Thanks.

Awesome. the great news is that the install fixed my broken links issue. However, it’s still slow has heck! even working in the backend is slow. Have you heard of portfolio pages causing severe speed issues?
