jonesy2367ParticipantHi
when i was creating my site, to keep things ordered i made a section of pages that had the homepage as a parent
now it’s gone live in the address bar those pages appear as domainname.com/demo-home/pagename which I didn’t expect and is a bit ugly, i couldn’t find way to change ‘demo-home’ as it didn’t appear in the backend/permalink under the page title
would you have a suggestion of how to stop ‘demo-home’ appearing in the address bar? (or will i have to not make these pages child pages)
many thanks

RupokMemberHi there,
Thanks for updating! Unfortunately your given credentials not working but I think I got your issue.
So here is my thoughts that might help to understand the situation :
#1. It seems you have imported the demo that’s why the slug of the home page is “demo-home”. You can change the slug but before that you need to take this off as home page from Settings > Reading > Front page. Let’s select a temporary page for some time and change the slug to “home” or your desired slug.
#2. If you add the home page as parent, you will still get it on the URL (http://www.parkvetgroup.com/home/pet-provision/) and it’s usual unless you set your own custom permalink structure from Settings > Permalinks
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks

jonesy2367Participantthanks..
what would the custom permalink look like to remove e.g. demo-home ?

LelyModeratorHello There,
By default parent page slug will always show when you visit the child pages. We can remove it via htaccess or via custom codes but that would be outside the scope of our support. It would be better to detach it from parent page if you don’t want it to show in the child page URL. This link might help:https://codex.wordpress.org/Settings_Permalinks_Screen
