Thanks guys, the xml export sounds like the perfect solution! Any chance you could help point me in the direction of this? I havent done that before.

Also, the network enabled theme in super admin…I show this theme is network enabled, which is why I dont understand the twenty fourteen theme’s appearance?

Thanks so much for the help!

The export and import is easy. It’s a built-in function of WordPress. Look in the “Tools” section of your site admin dashboard menu.

“Network Enabled” means it’s available for all sites on your network. IT’s enabled for activation. That doesn’t mean it is actually activated. You always manage the activated themes of your sites within the individual site dashboards on your network. Within the available themes to activate, you’ll see all Network Enabled themes.

Don’t confuse Enabled with Activated. Enabled just means it’s available. Activated means it’s actually the active theme.

Make sure X and all plugins with it are activated on the site BEFORE you import the other site, otherwise, parts of your site pertaining to X-specific areas (like your Portfolio section) will not be imported correctly. Also, if you’ve created a slider, you’ll need to Export/Import relevant sliders from Revolution Slider’s tools, not within the normal WordPress tools.

The built-in WordPress Export/Import functions support Posts, Pages, Menus, Media Library files, Contact Forms (if activated), Subscribers (if activated via Jetpack), custom fields, terms (tags and categories), Custom post types (Portfolio area, only if enabled), comments and feedback. Anything else will need to be transferred manually yourself.

    Hi Eric,

When you Enabled a theme on your “Network “, it will only show the specific theme under that sub-install but it won’t automatically activate like plugins, this is because only one theme can be use in one site unlike plugins that you can activate as many as you wan. So when you Enabled a theme via network, you need to go to your sub-install and activate that theme.

Export/Import is a standard wordpress function and very easy to use.

    You can check this http://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Export_Screen

Hope that clarifies about your issue

    Have a great day

Hey guys, thanks for this, that helped me get the theme straightened out. However, the import export isnt doing anything. There are no pages transferred to the multi-site network, and 0 assets in the library.

    Hi Eric,

You have to export all of your contents from the other site, and import the generated file to another. Import will not going to copy your content from another site within multi-site.

Please provide the steps you did so we could guide you 🙂

    Thank you.
