    Hello there,

I have a very noob question. I’m trying to achieve a very simple layout but I fear that I’m going about it in the most difficult way possible, and I’m sure there’s an easier way. So I was hoping you could help me out enlighten me as to how I can I achieve this layout. The website I saw this on was made through X Theme so I know it’s possible I’m just stumped as to how to make something like this of my own.

It’s a simple series of blog posts but I can figure how to achieve such simplicity. It could be a) Its standard, so once I start posting unless I say otherwise that’s how it lines up or b) It’s a plugin that I need to install. or C) You’ve got the answer.

    I’m hoping it’s C…

Please help, I’m pulling my hair out as I type.
    Thank you!

    Hi there,

This screenshot website blog was made using the Ethos Stack + a social share plugin which add these fb g+ and twitter buttons below the post to it.

    http://theme.co/x/demo/ethos/1/

If you are not using Ethos and you would like to set up the blog in the same style please provide your website url so we can check which stack you are using it.

To make the posts full width the user has set the blog pages to be fullwidth. You can set this by going to Appearance / Customizer / Blog

Also you can set all your website fullwidth without a sidebar by going to Appearence / Customizer / Layout and Design and setting Site Layout Fullwidth and Content Layout Fullwidth

    Please check the images attached.

Please always provide your website url when asking questions in the future 🙂

    Hope that helps,

    Joao

    Good Day,

I understand what you’re saying and I already have my site parameters set up as such. I guess my question is – do I need a special plugin to achieve the type of layout as in http://www.gizmoids.com/ or http://www.gameinformer.com/ or is this type of layout automatic once I start posting articles and/or blogs? On a side note, the social icons are not important to me because I already know how to add them where I want them, the column style layout is what’s stumping me at the moment.

Just in case you need it my URL is http://festiflyhub.com

    Hi there,

There is no need for a plugin, that’s the default layout of ethos blog page. But if you’re referring to other design elements other than posts listing, then template customization is required.

I checked your site and what are missing is carousel setting which of course changeable in customizer, featured image and some settings. Each post has its own setting specific to ethos, you can change it while posting. That is to control on how you wish your post to appear on the front page.

Another missing setup is a sidebar which is also changeable in the customizer. This layout is default to Ethos blog and you don’t have to insert recent posts. It’s automatic on blog home page, and that page isn’t editable through cornerstone.

Is there any specific aspect of design you wish to achieve? I’ll let you know it it’s possible one by one 🙂

    Thanks!

    Good day,

Thank you for the reply it helped a lot. I have added the sidebar, but my issue with that is that it’s a different color than the rest of the page. I have tried to change the whole page to white but the sidebar remains the same.

Is there any way to remedy this?

    Thanks again

    Hi There,

That gray background in the sidebar is the body background and its actually an image pattern. To get rid of that patten you can navigate to Customizer under the Layout and Design, remove the set Background Pattern.

    Hope it helps, Cheers!

Awesome, you guys are life savers!

Is there a way to control the column layout on the Post Pages and add an author tag like shown here in the second picture?

    Many Thanks again and again!

    Hello There,

Thanks for the updates! You can edit each of your posts in Cornerstone. You can add a single row with two columns in it. In the left side column, you can insert the Author element and on the right side, you can use a text element and insert your post content.

    Hope this make sense.

    Hey there,

I see that you’re using Essential Grid to display your blog posts. Essential Grid does not have the layout that you need though. Your attachment 1 was setup with the default Ethos 1. It is possible only with the default Ethos 1 setup. Please see https://community.theme.co/kb/customizer-ethos/ to learn how to set it up. Building that setup in Cornerstone is technically possible though you would need to customize the Recent Post element to display your posts. That however falls outside the scope of our support.

Regarding image 2, since your post was created outside of Cornerstone, you will need to rebuild them in Cornerstone since there is no way to automatically convert them to a Cornerstone page or post.

    Thanks.
