Michael PParticipantHi,
The one-page site I’m developing is complete for the moment, but I’m having some issues with choppy scrolling. I’m seeing this in both Chrome and Safari.
I tried the solution suggested here but it did not resolve the issue.
I also tried using the SmoothScroll extension, but this didn’t help either.
Could you kindly take a look for me?
Many thanks.

RupokMemberHey there,
I have checked with Safari and Chrome and it appears to be fine. Here goes a screencast on Chrome – http://recordit.co/TGZD6fzst9
Thanks!

Michael PParticipantHey Rupok,
Thanks for taking a look and posting the video, but I’m not actually referring to the menu scrolling. I’m referring to scrolling with a mouse or trackpad.
I’m seeing very choppy behaviour when using mouse or trackpad, and I have compared this with another (similar) site developed with X which does not show this behaviour.
Could you take another look? Thanks 🙂

JoaoModeratorHi There,
Another support here and I cannot replicate the issue, I have played around and it seems just fine.
Could you clean your browser cache and test it again.
Also if you have a chance please try with a different computer just for testing purposes.
Thanks

Michael PParticipantHi,
Thanks for the suggestion but I already tried clearing both browser caches before posting here – it does not have any impact.
I have also tried on another computer. I have tried on both an iMac 27″ and a MacBook Pro 15″ Retina – both systems show the same issue. In addition I tried disabling plugins, with no change.
Could you please check again to see if you can replicate the issue? In particular look at the behaviour of the scroll when it hits the first grid, “gallery”, and then again when it reaches the “cast” section.
For comparison I looked at a similar site, also developed with X. It does not exhibit the issue:
Out of interest, what system are you testing this on?

RupokMemberHi there,
I am checking from iMac 21.5″ and still it’s fine on Chrome and Safari and can’t find any notable issue.
Thanks!

Michael PParticipantHi Rupok,
Please see the video below. Difficult to capture in a screen recording, but I think this shows it ok. I am seeing this on two different systems, and not seeing it on other sites:

Thanks again.

Michael PParticipantHi Christian,
Please see my private reply above. You were looking at the wrong site.
On further examination, this may have something to do with The Grid plugin. On each page scroll it seems to re-load, causing choppy scrolling.
I have tried turning The Grid’s own caching system on and off again, but I can see very little difference using that setting – if anything it may be slightly better with caching enabled, but if so it’s a very minimal difference.
I also tried disabling global loading, but this disabled the grid entirely. Please take another look – here is a better video showing the problem:

Many thanks.

ChristianModeratorSorry but scrolling in your site is still smooth on my end.
March 7, 2017 at 8:47 am #1397761
Michael PParticipantOk well, you can clearly see the choppiness in the video I posted, where the frame rate is high enough to capture it.
You sent me this youtube screencast:
Unfortunately I can’t see clearly what you’re seeing because the frame rate is too low. However, if you’re saying it’s completely smooth, then I’ll need to check this on a number of different systems.
I’m already seeing an issue on two different Mac systems, both very fast computers with high-speed fibre broadband connections. I’ll do some additional checks and more screencasts, and report back.
Many thanks.

RupokMemberHey there,
You can check on different PC and browsers. It really seems pretty usual.
Thanks!
