Brian TParticipantHey, just bought X two days ago. Love it! It’s been exceeding my expectations thus far (and i’ve purchased many themes on ThemeForest that were all hype and no bite, so I appreciate a theme that lives up to the marketing).
Anyway, I’ve been having trouble with the One Page Navigation Scroll effect. Before I continue, this is how my page is basically laid out:
logo —–>Nav link | Link | Link | Link | Link | Link
______________________________________________________
* *
* *
* Slider Effects + CTA + UVP *
* *
* *
* *
______________________________________________________
Band 1______________________________________________________
_____________________________________________________
Band 2______________________________________________________
______________________________________________________
FOOTER.
______________________________________________________So I have the Revolution Slider set up underneath the header.
Then I have 2 content bands/sections with content.
In the navbar, the first two links coorrespond to the content bands (exampled: http://mysite.com/#x-content-band-1). The rest of the links are just placeholders (linking to google).
When I view my site, however, the first two links are already active (they’re highlighted and both underlined as if I were hovering over them).
When I click on either of the two links, it jumps directly to the content instead of the smooth scroll transition.
I’ve double checked everything to make sure I wasn’t just being stupid (made sure the one-page navigation menu was selected in the page options), and I still can’t find a solution.
Any help?
Thanks!

KoryKeymasterHey Brian,
Thanks for writing in and your kind words about X! It always means a lot to hear these things from our users. 🙂
I’d like to also thank you greatly for being so detailed in your response. All of this information helps us immensely whenever we are trying to troubleshoot issues. Unfortunately, this particular issue will require us to view your website directly so that we can check a couple things. If you wouldn’t mind, we would appreciate if you could provide us with a link to your website so that we can take a look into this further and provide you with a solution.
Thanks!

KoryKeymasterHey Brian,
Thanks for the link! I took a look at it and that is most strange. The links are showing “active” because they have the current-menu-item class applied to them, which the script should add and take away as you scroll up and down the page and come into contact with the bands. Are you happening to add these classes manually in the Menus section of WordPress, because they appear to be visible on page load. Also, what version of X are you running? And finally, do you have any additional plugins loaded and activated in your WordPress installation other than the required/recommended plugins that X prompts you about upon installation?
Thanks!

Brian TParticipantOkay,
1) Haven’t manually added any classes to my knowledge. I checked the navigation menu I created for the homepage and all the links just have destination URLS and labels. Nothing else.
2) I installed X 1.7.0 first. Then I installed the X Renew child theme immediately afterwards and activated it. This was a few (2) days ago, so everything should be updated.
3) The only other non-X plugins I have installed is the “Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin” which I deactivated earlier and a “limit login attempts” plugin.
So yeah, that’s about all I got. I’m pretty confused myself, cuz I haven’t been messing around with any scripts other than a little CSS for the logo alignment.

RubinKeymasterHey Brian,
it looks like something is interfering with our JavaScript but I can’t find the source. The best thing would be if you can send me your WordPress admin login via our contact form and I will take a look. Thanks!

Brian TParticipantAwesome, thank you so much. Works perfectly.
Before I leave, I’ve thought of some ideas for X that you guys might want to consider in the future.
1) Add additional header options. Make it easier to center the logo. Also, enable users to position the navigation under the logo. THIS IS A MUST! 🙂
2) Make it easier to change button colors within the layout builder.
3) Although it’s fairly simple to do this with CSS, it would be awesome to provide additional stock “hover” effects for navigation links.
4) Make it easier to add background textures in the navigation/header bar.
5) Include hover highlighting options for images (example: http://theme.co/x/#layouts)
6) Include additional options for displaying the blog index (the grid is awesome, but there are other styles I’m sure customers would like also!)
7) Allow more design options for individual blog posts. Something I’ve noticed about recent themes is that they focus extensively on creating amazing landing/product/portfolio pages, but they lack in the “blog department.” As content marketing becomes more important in the following years, I think a growing segment of theme customers will appreciate a plethora of spicy blog options. Take for example, http://markmanson.net/stop-trying-to-be-happy. I was able to achieve something similar with X, but it’s going to take alotta CSS and possibly some PHP edits to get the slider above the actual blog post.
8) Continuing with the blog ideas, I think you guys could create the best selling theme of all time if you went above and beyond with single post blog options. You guys are nailing it with recent marketing/design trends, but don’t stop now! Check this out: http://www.rollingstone.com/feature/the-gangster-in-the-huddle
How dope is that? Very dope.9) Expand the typographical capabilities. I know, I know. This is a very annoying request. But if you could somehow include a way to make the typographical settings less “global” that would be awesome. In other words, make it easier for users to change the general typography of blog posts without interfering with pages and visa versa. I realize this can be easily done with CSS/HTML, but if you really wanna snatch that “lazy bastard” dollar, this would be a smart move (I know this because I’m a lazy bastard).
Anyway, I could go all day with ideas. But those were at the forefront of my mind.
You guys are really onto something here. I love how you’re actually listening to customer feedback and straight hustling with the updates. Keep it up, I’m definitely a fan of this theme! Will definitely purchase future themes by you guys.
Keep stackin those thousands!

Brian TParticipantOH OH OH –
Here’s suggestion number 10 (sorry, I just couldn’t help it):
Maybe include an option for 2 navigation menus in the header (one is the dominant, the other is the secondary, smaller menu). I think this would kick ass for one page layouts that offer internal pages as well.
Sorry, I’m done now.

KoryKeymasterBrian,
Thank you for your very thorough feedback! We have made note of all of your suggestions and will discuss them internally at our team meeting. From this we will decide which ones feel like viable options to pursue for a future release. We absolutely do want to make it a point to listen to our customers, and we appreciate your input. Our goal is to focus exclusively on X and make it the best theme available on the market.
We appreciate your support!

Florian CParticipantHello, I don’t know if it’s the same problem, so I’ll explain it:
I have a problem with the focus in the nav menu on my one page website: when I press on one of the sections, it scrolls down, but the focus doesn’t go to the right section (I hope you’ll understand, hard to explain in English for me): when I press to “applications”, it goes to this section, but the focus is on the previous section (“communication visuelle”).You can see on my website to understand easier:

RubinKeymasterHey,
make sure to clear your cache. I just tried and everything seem to work fine.

Florian CParticipantI’ve cleaned my cache, but it’s the same. It works fine on tablets on smartphone, but not on desktop (macbook pro and imac for me)

RubinKeymasterHey,
I am on an iMac too and it works just fine. What browser are you using?
