Hello,
I have just downloaded X and installed the theme, everything went smoothly until I tried to install the X shortcodes, Slider revolution and Visual composer plugins, this is the error message i get:
The plugin does not have a valid header.
Downloading install package from http://79.170.44.105/awkwardpanda.marketing/wp-content/themes/x/framework/plugins/x-shortcodes.zip…Download failed. Failure when receiving data from the peer
Does anyone know how to fix this? I haven’t changed any of the files or folders.
Thanks,
Carlos.
PS I am a front end dev but brand new to wordpress.
April 20, 2014 at 12:07 pm #35335If you don’t want to place the plugins with your FTP-Client on your webserver you could make use of the wordpress plugin-installer.
Open the X-Theme with your Finder or Explorer and open the Framework-Folder. There you will find a plugin-Folder with some zipped plugins that you can choose from your WordPress Plugins Installer directly – just select “Upload” right there. 🙂
April 20, 2014 at 10:31 pm #35469Hi there!
Thank you for using the theme!
@joerg S: Thanks for helping out! 🙂
@carlos R: Looks like the file is corrupted somehow. Please download the theme again from your themeforest account then override the old theme files via FTP. You can also download the X Shortcodes plugin alone then upload it via FTP like @joerg S suggested.
Thanks!
April 23, 2014 at 3:31 pm #36408I downloaded and installed X for the first time today, and am also having these problems. I tried everything suggested here by both Support and by Joerg S, and I still can’t install X Shortcodes or the others.
Please note– the version of Shortcodes that comes in the Plugins folder of the X theme appears to be a previous version; it was last modified on April 17, and X Shortcodes 2.1.0 was released on the 18th. Even with this file replaced with the most recent version, X Shortcodes will not install because the package does not have a valid header.
The problem doesn’t actually appear to be with uploading the file, since FTP’ing the uncompressed file didn’t relieve or change the error in any way. I’m not sure what “header” this error refers to– does anyone know where it is located in the plugin file?
What should I try next?
April 23, 2014 at 3:41 pm #36414UPDATE: Ah. I think I may have initially misunderstood what you were suggesting, Joerg S. I’ve got it installed now, and I think I basically did what you said to do without realizing it.
To get X Shortcodes to install and bypass this header error,
1. Download the new X Shortcodes version 2.1.0 from this site.
2. Within the WordPress Dashboard, go to Plugins; then Add New; then upload the X Shortcodes v2.1.0 zip. Install.April 23, 2014 at 6:23 pm #36481Stephanie, thanks for chiming in and letting us know that Joerg’s instructions have helped you out on this matter.
