    Hi,

I’ve created the blog area, assigned it via Settings -> Reading etc. Set the page template to ‘Layout – Content Left, Sidebar Right’, but my sidebar doesn’t show.

    Can you advise?

    Regards,

    Ash

    Ashley,

Is it not showing on your site when you view it live, or are you not seeing it in the Customizer? Sometimes if your screen is a little smaller, you won’t see the sidebar automatically. You can click the “collapse” button in the lower left corner to see your entire screen and your sidebar should show up.

Let us know if that fixes things. If not, could you please provide a link to your site so that we can take a look at a live example?

    Thanks!

The sidebar isn’t showing on the live site or the customiser. I’m sure I’ve missed something simple, but if you could help?

Basically I’d like the blog to look like the demo site 1.

Also the footer menu only shows half the time, sometimes it says ‘Assign a Menu’, yet if I refresh the page it comes back.

If you need login info, please email me.

    Ashley,

I can see from the markup on your site that you have a couple classes in the body tag that we add based on user selections. The x-full-width-active class is present, as well as the page-template-template-layout-full-width-php class on the homepage.

Regarding the first one, this is stating that the Fullwidth layout (i.e. no sidebar) is selected. Ensure that you have selected the proper layout by going to the Renew section of the Customizer and selecting the proper Content Layout. As always, make sure that you’re saving your settings before exiting the Customizer.

Additionally, on the homepage, I can see that you’re using the fullwidth template. Keep in mind that when this template is used, no sidebar will be visible on this page.

Finally, regarding your menu, that is very strange. We haven’t had any other reports of this. Are you by any chance doing any work on the site with someone else? Sometimes when two people are working on the installation at the same time, one can overwrite another’s changes and vice versa, creating these sorts of issues. If not, make sure that after you’ve created your menu in WordPress and saved it, you also need to make sure to go to Manage Locations on that menus page and assign it to the proper location.

Let us know if you need anything else!

In reading through this again, I’m noticing something I missed the first time. I see that you tried to set the layout with a Page Template. Page Templates do not apply to pages like the Blog, Portfolio, et cetera. These pages are managed via the global options in the Customizer, so you’ll definitely want to go in there and set everything up and you will be on your way.

Sorry about missing that the first time! Do let us know if you need anything else. 🙂

    Great stuff worked a treat.

Footer menu though is still playing up, and I’m the only one editing the site.
