    Hi,

I want to start by saying I am an absolute beginner with wordpress and any kind of code-writing, so my apologies if this request comes out a bit gibberish. But here I go..

    I have two questions:
    1. I have a parent page (‘Who We Are’) with 4 child pages (‘About Us, etc.), and I want to display them all in a sort of navigable menu on all the 4 child pages. This is my page. What I basically want to achieve is something like this. But I want it to look like what has been used in the x-theme homepage under the Woo section, (with options for Integrity, Renew, etc.) except I want the menu on the left side vertically, instead of in the centre top horizontally (I really, really hope I am explaining this well).
The content of the 4 pages will be a mixture of text, images and links, and I do not want a menu for this in the sidebar (like the one I have presently set up), as every time I want to see a different child page, my entire webpage has to reload. I also want to use a full width layout. Is that being too picky? I hope not.

Another example for this that I really like and would love to learn how to do is X’s member area, where there are options for Dashboard, Knowledge Base and Forum on the left. I like that they merge seamlessly with the page and are only highlighted once you hover or are actually on the page. I would need two sections here (like there is one for Resources on x’s page), for Products and Services.

    Please help me!

    2. My other question is about using a child theme. I did as suggested while setting up the x-theme by downloading the child theme. However, when I downloaded it from this page, the file that downloaded did not have any .zip files that I could use. The /framework/views/integrity (and all other theme folders) were empty. There was no other folder apart from the framework one. So I downloaded the child theme for X v3.2.1 or older and that is what I am currently using. Will this be a problem if my main x-theme is the higher version?

Sorry about this long query, but I would much appreciate the help!

    Thanks!

    Hi,

Sorry I just remembered I had another question too. I was wondering if you could tell me a simple (or maybe even a complicated but easy-to-understand) way to get text to show up when you hover on an image that has a link. I like that the images change opacity when you hover on them now but the only options are tooltip and popover and I don’t want any of those.
And is there also a way to set a colour for the text?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

#1 Please review tabbed content tutorial.
    Please check this : https://theme.co/x/member/kb/shortcode-walkthrough-tabs/

#2 In our new release we included x-child as child theme of all stacks, please upload this .zip file through wordpress dashboard.

    More information : https://theme.co/x/member/kb/how-to-setup-child-themes/

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

Thanks for your speedy reply, but I’m afraid it wasn’t helpful to me – at all. I am not looking to set up a structure where the content is attached to the tabs on the left (or top), but detached like the example I gave about the x-theme homepage.

And did you read the part where I said I downloaded the child theme already but there was no .zip file in there? And that I had to install an older version?

Also could you let me know about getting text on top of an image when hovering (my 2nd post)

More detailed replies would be much appreciated, thank you. As I said I am very new to this, and while I am trying to understand, sending me back and forth to look at videos I’ve already seen and have nothing to do with my question isn’t helping.

    Hi there,

I’m sorry if we didn’t explain well.

#1 Please set up tab content then we will provide you with tailored solution to remove wrpper around it to make it more like your example.

#2 If you are using updated version of X and it’s first time you want to set up a child theme, then you need to upload exact .zip file you have downloaded, no need to open .zip file.

The .zip file you download is a compressed version of the child theme, which you can upload directly to WordPress or unzip and install manually via FTP.

No need to use older version.

#3 The only option available for now is using tooltip and popover, what are you trying to achieve isn’t a feature offered by X. It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities. Thanks for understanding. Take care!

    Hi, thanks for your reply.

#1 I have now set up my tabbed content like so: http://ambicoindia.com/wp/what-we-do/?preview=true&preview_id=536&preview_nonce=cc26909721, and I’m hoping you can help me style it better.
    (i) I want to change the look of the tab_nav items, maybe the background and text colours.
(ii) Get rid of the frame that surrounds the content area (is that possible?)
(iii) Increase the size of the images within the tabs.

Also I think my page is broken somehow as every time I click on a tab_nav item, the page scrolls up a bit. Why is this happening?

#2 The .zip file I have downloaded is the old version, as there was no .zip file in the latest download version. There were only empty folders.

    Hi there,

#1: Thanks for the URL. Unfortunately, it seems this is still in draft mode and not available for public, as I’m getting this error: http://prntscr.com/6u40q4. Would you mind providing us with your WordPress credentials so that we can take a closer look? Don’t forget to select Set as private reply to ensure your data remains hidden from other users.

It seems you have enabled one page navigation. We can confirm the issue once we see the page.

#2: I just checked by downloading the latest child theme and the file is .zip, not sure what’s the issue at your end. Could you try downloading your child theme again? Let us know how it goes.

    Thanks!

Any chance you could share with us the concept of removing the tab content wrapper like you mentioned above? I mean in a more general way than for the OP’s specific site…

    Hi there,

Thanks for writing in! We will usually look at it and provide CSS advice. It really depends on how the site is setup, and we usually test the results on the front end to make sure it works. To assist you with this issue, would you mind providing us with your URL. Thanks!
