    HI ThemeCo,

http://southcoombe.co.uk updated to 4.5 and couldn’t use Visual Composer. Needed to update. To update that I needed to update X. Updated X to current version and this happened (Dev Site) http://pinto.uk

southcoombe.co.uk was built a few years ago now with the first copy of X that we bought and the clients came back to us recently wanting to update etc.

I don’t know where to start in order to put this back together.

    I believe southcoombe.co.uk is running 1.8.5

Thank you in advance for pointing me in the right direction,

    Tamsin

    Hello Tamsin,

Thanks for writing in! You were using an older version of X. There were so many changes made in the latest version. And you were also using a legacy child theme. To resolve this issue, please check out this topic: https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/child-theme-updates/

    Hope this helps.

Thank you. I have got a long way now. But I am left with two issues.

One is that .x-container-fluid does not appear in the updated version which has thrown some styles out. I cannot find where the original -fluid styles are to change them. I have added some !important styles to the styles.css file to override some of this but it is not ideal and I do not know if I have covered all instances. Can you suggest a better way?

The second issue is with the navigation. As far as I can see it is caused by the added <span> within the nav link in the new theme. Can you show me how to get one nav to look like the other?

This issue has taken days for us to fix so far and we have no justification to charge our client for this.

I would really appreciate your help.

    Thank you

    Tamsin

    Thanks fro writing in!

Upon checking staging site, it was displaying fine (See the attachment). Please provide us with some screen shots and let us know what are the issues you’re referring to?

    Thanks.

Yes, I had to carry on with hacking it to look right (took most of the day :(. The remaining issue is that I have added !important css to get around the .x-container-fluid changing to .x-container issue. I would like to know if there is a better solution?

Hopefully these troubles are just because this site was created using such an old version of x. We have other sites with x theme and I am so nervous about updating now – they are more recent though so hopefully we wont go through this again.

I guess if there is no better way to get around that class change that’s ok.

Thanks for getting back to me.

    Hi there,

If you are using a child theme, you need to change class="x-container-fluid" to class="x-container" in child theme’s files. That is a change that we have done in the past to X theme.

    Hope that helps.
