    Hi team,

The email forms plugin is forcing the welcome email to be sent.

Before you suggest it, welcome email is turned off in mail chimp and I’ve also disable double opt-in in the plugin. It’s not an opt in email, it’s the Welcome email.

I’ve read through all the Forum posts about this and can’t find a solution.
I’ve been liaising with Mailchimp and this is what they’ve said:

Essentially the call being sent to us via the third party signup form is asking the welcome message to be sent. To provide exact specifics, the call coming over is set as – Send_welcome: True when it should be Send_welcome: False. That said, these calls are going over an API 2.0 software. While this is still currently running, we have retired all versions of our API below 3.0 at the end of 2016. This means that while this is still active at the present, these calls would stop sending eventually.

As a means to address this, I’d recommend utilizing a single opt-in signup source that utilizes our API 3.0 to connect to MailChimp. This will ensure it is using data that is still supported, and this option can then be addressed should another opt-in form not already have it disabled.

Essentially the plugin is using an older version of our API to pass this information to us. On top of that, the setting within the plugin is set to send this out. If there is an option within the plugin to disable it, that would be one option. With that said addressing this plugin would only be a short-time fix.

This plugin does everything I need apart from give me the option to turn off the welcome email.

I’m tearing my hair out over it. Can someone help pretty please?

    Thanks,

    Lex

    Hey Lex,

I’ll forward this to our developer to update the API. Meantime if it’s a big deal for you, you can try embedding the form maybe?

    Thanks!

    Thank Rupok,

What do you mean by embedding the form?

If you’re talking about embedding the form directly from Mailchimp, that doesn’t work as it forces double opt in.

You can only turn off double opt-in through the API.

I’m using a different plugin now but obviously would be better for people to just use the one that’s bundled with X theme.

    Thanks,

    Lex

    Hey Lex,

We have already built a new extension for Mailchimp (including some other providers) and will be released with X 5. Hopefully that will be perfect as it uses Mailchimp API 3.0. I’d request you to wait for few days and use the existing one.

    Cheers!
