    I have been trying to implement this code given to me from Kayako to implement a small live chat help image that follows you around on every page.

    I have tried inserting this into the child’s themes function list and passing it into the wp_head but it doesn’t seem to work. Which file should I be trying to place this code into? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    You can place that script in the Footer Widget. If that still doesn’t work, I’d recommend that you seek assistance from a WordPress developer as we don’t have support for third party scripts.
