I’m not sure if this is a limit to the X theme or not? Hopefully I explain this clearly:

When I setup Posts to appear in a Blog menu or the Home page using any of the Stacks(currently using Integrity), the Blog posts display fine, the way they should with all the additional metadata as I see them in the demos.

The problem appears when I create menu items that show pages of different Blog Post that I categorized. For example, I have Blog Posts with the category “podcast” in which I show on the Menu as either a Page named PODCAST or just a link to the Category “podcast” When I use a page I added the short code to display posts, but the problem is that I am unable to make the posts format with the same metadata that appears when I just show all posts on the Home or just a Blog page. Basically I want to be able to display Blog Posts with the same formatting anywhere on the site. I have at least a dozen different menu items that I want the user to click on that will take them to Blog Posts or different categories or subjects. Is there a way to do this easily without coding?

    See below:

Here’s a sample blog post title which shows the additional metadata the way they should look minus html code:

“Farmers Markets ~ Saving You Money all Year Long
DENISE FLEMING AUGUST 29, 2014 HEALTHY TIPS LEAVE A COMMENT”

This is what the same post displays when I create a page and use the recent posts short code to display posts or have a category item as the menu item that displays posts of those categories without any sort of short codes:

“Farmers Markets ~ Saving You Money all Year Long
    6:30 pm”

    Thanks.

    Hi Pneumann,

    Thank you for writing in!

First off, I’d recommend that you clear your caching plugin, and disable it during development. This can cause Customizer changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Regarding the recent_posts shortcode formatting, there seems to be a JavaScript conflict in your website (see: http://prntscr.com/4lin7n). Please clear this conflict and see if it solves the issue you are facing.

    Hope this helps. 🙂

    Thank you.

I’m not sure how to correct the Java error? I still have a way to go before getting to that level.

I actually did a backup restore of the site. I was using the Avada theme for the site under a different domain name. I also was unable to remove all elements of the Avada theme. I’m thinking this could be causing the Java issue.

Would it be better for me to re-install WordPress, then install the X theme, use the WordPress built in backup, then restore the data to the re-created web site?

I know I would have to re-install plugins, and fix the normal image issues and whatnot, but maybe that would be better considering having some of the Avada elements could cause me more problems down the road.

    Thanks.

    Hi Pneumann,

    Thank you for writing in!

I’m only seeing one error in your website, would you mind providing us with your WordPress admin credentials so that I can look into it? If it doesn’t resolve the issue, you can go with full re-install of your WordPress and X theme.

    Cheers!

    Hi Paul,

Thank you for providing login credentials!

Upon checking, it seems that the JavaScript code that is having error is being added by a 3rd party plugin. You are also using an older version of X (i.e. 2.3.0) theme while there is a newer version 2.4.0 is out.

Your website is using cache and BWP minify plugin for minifying CSS and JavaScript. I’d recommend that you clear your caching plugin, and disable it during development. This can cause Customizer changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.

Installing your theme again with the latest version would be a better option. However you may want to create a backup of your site first.

Hope that helps. Let us know how it goes! 🙂

    Thank you.

I disabled plugins and upgraded to the latest version of the theme. It seems to have fixed everything. Thank you very much for the quick and informative responses.

One more question. If you look at the Test page on the main menu you will see the Podcast Blog Posts are showing as I wanted them to according to the short code, except that they still do not show the same details in the preview as they do on say the Home page. Does it look to you that my test page is showing the posts format properly?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

    Glad it’s fixed now.

I just checked your podcast and home page posts, they are just showing the same content/excerpt.

Planning Your Meals for Healthier Eating School lunch season is coming and busy sports days arriving in the coming weeks. In this episode, we discuss how to plan school lunches, schedule dinners for busy workdays, and how to appease several different tastes within one household. Join us to learn how to plan meals during this busy time of the year.

Are you referring to layout? You may change your blog layout at Admin > Appearance > Customizer > Blog > Style > Masonry. Or if you want to have samde blog layout at your podcast, then set it under Admin > Appearance > Customizer > Blog > ARCHIVES > Style > Masonry.

    Hope this helps.

Please view the “Test” page on the main menu. Is their a way to force each blog post to display the same post meta data as the home page? It looks like when I use Categories in the menu to display blog posts the formatting is consistent so I’m happy with that.

When I create a Page such as the test page and use the short code “Edit Recent Posts” to display Blog Posts I lose the nicer meta data that I see on home and on pages that are displaying categories.

My question comes down to can I format the blog posts the same as the default on the home page/categories using a page with the “Edit Recent Posts” short code? Currently on the Test page I am only seeing the Blog Post Title, with the date below it, but not partial text of the blog post.

I was looking at your demo page for the “Recent Posts” short code: http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/shortcodes/recent-posts/

My Test page with the short code shows what your demo page is displaying. Maybe what I’m looking for is not yet part of the theme? If not, can I put that in as a request?

    Thanks.

    Hi There,

We already have plans to update recent posts shortcode. However you can’t create a page as like the HomePage in Category or Archive Pages. It requires huge customization.

    Thanks,
