BenjaminParticipantHey there,
Hope all is well.
I have the following issues (WP, X and Cornerstone has latest version)
1) In the customizer I’m unable to apply headline letter Spacing. I have tried several times and occasionally it shows the spacing while editing in the customizer but it’s never being saved.
2) The site has an extreme long loading time. I have yet not used any caching plugin and before I do that I would like to rule out essential grid as one of the bottle necks. Essential grid is used to show latest blog posts on the front page when being loaded it has some sort of “waterfall effect”. Can you please help find the issue?
Best regards

ChristianModeratorHey Benjamin,
Please try disabling Jetpack. If that doesn’t help, would you mind deactivating all third party plugins while we investigate? Or, you could copy your site over to a development server so we could investigate there.
Thanks.

BenjaminParticipantHey there,
Thank you.
I have deactivated Jetpack and all the thirdparty plugins, site is still “slow” and the customizer does not save the spacing.

RupokMemberHi Benjamin,
Thanks for updating. Letter spacing seems working fine. If you are looking at any heading, make sure to check which heading you have set as “looks like”. If you are using a h2 tag but set h4 as “looks like” then you will see the letter spacing of h4.
And your site is very unresponsive because of lots of embedded video. Since the videos are loading lots of scripts within the page that’s why it’s so slow.
Thanks!

BenjaminParticipantHello,
Sorry for not being specific. I’m unable to change the spacing of the landmark headline. For reference please check http://screencast.com/t/iQhNNc9g6mJj
Regarding the embedded videos is there anything to be done? More or less the whole purpose of the site is to publish videos and if they are not embedded which other way is beneficial in regards to site speed?
Please observe that essential grid is being used for achieve a desired layout.PS! I had to activate all the plugins since the customer was using the site and I have been having issues with the host to move a replication of the site to a dev environment.

Paul RModeratorHi Benjamin,
1. To change spacing of landmark headline, you can add this in your custom > css in the customizer
.x-header-landmark { padding: 30px 0; }You may change 30px to achieve your desired spacing.
2. You can try installing a caching plugin. Please refer to the link below for more information

Hope that helps.

BenjaminParticipantHey again,
1) I think you misunderstood me, I want spacing between the letters, not to add padding around the letters.
One side note is that, before updating to WP 4.5 I was able to see the changes within the customizer but after the update It does not show when you are editing in the customizer and neither does it give you the output. Before the update I could change H1 letter spacing to get the desired effect on the landmark header. Maybe this is a bug that came with WP 4.5?2) As I mentioned earlier in this thread I have not yet activated a cache plugin and I know that will help with the performance but I would like to get some pointers for best practices when using iframe embed codes and also with the consideration that we are using essential grid for the front page and the blog layout of the stack when going the archive pages. I know this is a broad question but I hope you can point me in the right direction because the goal of the page is to post 1-2 Youtube vidoes per week.
Sorry for not being this specific when I started the thread, I must have been lazy, I usually engage much more to make my point clear.
Regards

FriechModeratorHi Benjamin,
The declaration of landmark letter spacing on the stack (renew) CSS is more specific than the customizer, so that’ll take priority. You can add this under Custom > CSS in the Customizer to adjust the landmark letter spacing.
.h-landmark, .entry-title.h-landmark { letter-spacing: 10px; }The site performance is affected by the YouTube JS error (see console), and that issue is a bug with Chrome: https://code.google.com/p/google-cast-sdk/issues/detail?id=309
Hope it helps, Cheers!

BenjaminParticipantHey,
Thank you, the CSS code did the trick.
Regarding site performance, and if we move the subject from embedding videos with iframe, what is a better alternative if the main goal is better the site performance?
Could one solution be to just pasting the Youtube URL in the text editor to make use of WP oEmbed feature and since we are using Essential grid for the static front page we use Youtube ID in the alternative source?I tried this but since the site is loaded with a bunch of posts with iframe embedded I can’t make the judgement if this is the right solution, I sincerely don’t know and would really like your input. Only problem with this setup right now is that when you go the archive page you don’t get any “featured picture” since I’m using standard post type.
Hope this was clear enough, I really appreciate any help on this matter since the site is still small at this moment and the problem will get worse as the site grows.
Regards

BenjaminParticipantJust a side note, the problem is not isolated to only Chrome, same thing with Mozilla and Edge.
