Hi –
I’ve been doing local development and using Cornerstone to edit the pages/layout/etc. I then used duplicator to migrate my site from localhost up to a staging directory on the hosting server.
The site transferred okay – although some text is screwy on the homepage – but I can’t edit it with Cornerstone. Cornerstone loads but it doesn’t find any of the layout information or elements on the page. The elements/layout that I setup locally is still there, but Cornerstone on the web server just doesn’t locate it so I can’t edit anything.
Any suggestions would be great – thanks!

WordPress version: 4.2.4August 10, 2015 at 12:42 am #354678Hi,
Thanks for writing in!
May I know which duplicator plugin did you use?
You can try this third party plugin instead.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/
Hope that helps.
August 10, 2015 at 4:59 pm #355386Hi –
I used duplicator version: 0.5.24 – the latest plugin release.
I’ll try the other 3rd party plugin – is that known to work better?
I tried to do it all manually as well – creating a database and importing, copying over all the files, etc and it still didn’t work correctly. Is there something Cornerstone is expecting that doesn’t get copied over?
Seems like a pretty standard use case to migrate a local build to a server, so I’m surprised it’s this challenging.
Thanks,

Thanks for updating the thread! Duplicator should work fine. Which hosting are you using? Can you check which PHP version is installed and see if you can get it configured to the latest? Hope this helps – thanks!
August 10, 2015 at 6:47 pm #355466Hi –
I’m using BlueHost and their PHP Engine is version 5.4. I’ve noticed some others on this site having issues with Cornerstone not working correctly after “going live”: https://community.theme.co//forums/topic/2-very-big-problems-on-transfer-webpage-from-local-to-remote/
Do you think it’s PHP related or a database issue?
Thx,

Try to utilize this plugin when migrating the site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-migrate-db/
Or simple save all your pages from local as a template on Cornerstone and upload it on live.
Hope it helps, Cheers!
August 10, 2015 at 11:35 pm #355647Hi –
Thanks for the reply. I tried the migrate-db plugin and I still have the same issue with Cornerstone not being able to load the content. Also the front-page post has a lot of “” in the text.
I debugged it a little further and did a duplicator backup/restore on my local MAMP installation and everything came through okay. So, it is probably something with a DB/Setting mismatch with my hosting provider, Bluehost, which is causing Cornerstone to not recognize the content and having the “” inserted into the text.
Any ideas of a setting that Bluehost might be doing that could be causing this behavior?
Thanks,

After reviewing the information provided above, I would try checking with your hosting provider on this particular issue as it sounds like something related to your setup is causing this. Typically, this is due server configuration problems (i.e. underpowered, traceroute issues, packet loss, permissions errors, et cetera). Additionally, your host will be able to diagnose things much better due to the fact that they have a more complete view of your account and can work behind the scenes with you. If the problem you are experiencing persists after working with your host, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Any relevant information that you can share with us from your host is also greatly appreciated as it will help us to better ascertain the source of the problem.
Thanks
December 14, 2015 at 9:54 am #706158Hi all !
Also a lot of “”…
I work all my website on a local server… But I never have that concern with others worpdress themes.
This does not come from my host. Maybe CornerStone : All my titles writing via cornerstone are erased but present on the Db.If you have an issue ! I’m stay in line ! 😀
Thanks !December 14, 2015 at 3:51 pm #706577Hello Curt,
Thank you for the screenshot.
That is a database charset issue.
