    Is Cornerstone necessary or needed for any particular reason when using X? Or is it simply an add-on feature?

    I can’t remember why I have it installed on my site or what purpose it serves since I’ve never used it, so am wondering if I can safely remove it from my server.

    Never mind. I see that Cornerstone is indeed needed for a number of features, including shortcodes. So, yea, it must stay.
