I would like to set up a portfolio of different categories, and sometimes the items within a category are related images, so I’d like to have them displayed in a slider but still as one portfolio item. Is this possible?
Thanks,
CindyJuly 3, 2014 at 2:49 am #64446Hey Cindy,
We’re sorry but that is not possible.
Thanks.
July 3, 2014 at 8:42 am #64526Thanks for the response but I am quite confused. So portfolios will only contain single images? I read on another thread:
@Cindy , portfolio items can have slider. In order to do that, you will have to set your portfolio as gallery type. Then upload the images from your device to your media library while your post is open(edit mode). This will attach your uploaded images to your post and slides were attachments.
Sorry, but how do I “set your portfolio as gallery type”? And I don’t really understand the rest of the message either.
Perhaps there is a simpler way to accomplish what I am looking to achieve, which is:
A page consisting of a grid of images, each image will link to another page containing a slider of multiple images and some text. What is the best way to accomplish this? Do this without using portfolio?
Your response is greatly appreciated.
July 4, 2014 at 6:55 am #64916Hi Cindy,
Sorry for the confusion in our previous reply.
A page consisting of a grid of images, each image will link to another page containing a slider of multiple images and some text. What is the best way to accomplish this? Do this without using portfolio?
This is possible & let me show you an example: Check this: http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/portfolio/ (It’s the portfolio page) Find “Riomaggiore” from this page or go here directly: http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/portfolio-item/riomaggiore/ (You see, multiple images there?)
To do so, follow the steps below:
1) Create a new portfolio item
2) Specify a featured image, add multiple images in content area. In portfolio meta settings you can define you should use thumbnail or gallery as you wish.
3) Now go to Pages > Add New > Create a page using Portolio Layout Template.Hope this helps, Cheers!
July 4, 2014 at 12:30 pm #65022Thank you, but I got as far as #3. At #4, I created a new page, now how do I connect the portfolio item I created in steps #1 and 2 to this new page I designated as using Portolio Layout Template?
July 4, 2014 at 1:08 pm #65035Never mind, I got it, thanks so much!
July 5, 2014 at 7:06 pm #65366You’re welcome Cindy.
July 9, 2014 at 12:54 pm #66740Hi Cindy,
Can I see what you are doing in the way of your portfolio? I’m curious. I might want to try something similar. Thanks.
July 10, 2014 at 11:55 am #67173Hi Barbara,
Thank you for writing in!
Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do, we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.
Thank you.
Have a nice day!July 12, 2014 at 8:10 am #67754Hi Support team. Actually I was asking Cindy H, the author of this forum question, if I could see her site. Sorry for the confusion!
July 13, 2014 at 4:43 pm #68069Glad to share when I have the site done 🙂
July 13, 2014 at 5:20 pm #68080Question to X support team:
Is it possible to add a sidebar to a portfolio layout page?
Is it possible to add text to this page or does it have to be all portfolio items only. Thanks,
CindyJuly 13, 2014 at 6:29 pm #68098Dear X team:
Is it possible to have just the title of the portfolio item of multiple images to show, with no date of post and no word “GALLERY” showing?
Thanks,
CindyJuly 13, 2014 at 6:34 pm #68099Hi Cindy,
Yes possible to have portfolio sidebar, first ensure that you’re not using full-width at Customizer > {STACK} > Content Layout. Then edit your portfolio page and at Portfolio Settings, choose Keep Sidebar under Layout.
Not possible to add text (possible for custom development), it will only display portfolio items.
Thanks!
July 13, 2014 at 7:22 pm #68123Great, thanks. Sidebar now works but it’s dropping below the portfolio items, this is an issue related to my other thread http://theme.co/x/member/forums/topic/is-there-a-conflict-with-sidebar-and-visual-composer/ I have a few more questions:
1. Can the sidebar also show on portfolio items, like underneath the share box?
2. Author’s name is showing on portfolio item, how can I hide it, even though comments are not allowed?
3. Is it possible to have just the title of the portfolio item of multiple images to show on hover, with no date of post and no word “GALLERY” showing?
Thanks,
Cindy -
