    Hi guys.

Quick question. Is there any known issue when running a video header in Firefox?
When I open my site (www.andre-costa.com/private) in Chrome, the video header shows up just fine, but when I open in Firefox I get nothing!!

Thank you guys for any help you can give.

    Hey Andre,

Please ensure X and the plugins included are all up to date. And, disable third party plugins momentarily. If that doesn’t help, please give us access to your WordPress admin and FTP so we could troubleshoot.

    Thanks.

    Hi guys,

    It’s a dev site at:

    http://maia-internet.com/metis

It’s currently a video on the slider but still isn’t showing on macosX in any browser. Seems to work on Linux OK, haven’t tested windows yet.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Hi Dave,

    Thank you for writing in!

Upon checking, it seems you are only using .mp4 video format, please try uploading .webm and .ogv too (see: http://prntscr.com/4vt1av)

If it doesn’t work, Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

    Thanks!

    Chaps,

I’ve uploaded the extra versions and all seems well at my end – Customer response is safari is fine but the video is frozen on Firefox.

If you could check for me that would be great!

    cheers,

    Dave

PS just checked on win 7 – works fine on firefox but not IE (of course 😉 )

    Hi Dave,

    Thank you for writing in!

It could be a problem with the encoding used to create the video files. You could test it by using the following demo video links: http://prntscr.com/4w2e7z

Let us know how it goes!

    Thanks!

    thanks,

well that’s got it going on:

    Win Firefox: yes
    Win IE : no
    Linux Firefox : yes
    Linux Chrome: yes
    MacOSX Safari: Stutters
    MacOSX Firefox: no

Looks like Linux is the winner 😉

I’ll post below with a login for you to have a look,

    cheers

    Dave

    Hey Dave,

The video you’re using on site is not decoding in Firefox which is the reason why it is paused in FF. Here are some errors i found while testing it on Firefox:

Media resource http://maia-internet.com/metis/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/metis1.mp4 could not be decoded.
HTTP "Content-Type" of "text/plain" is not supported. Load of media resource http://maia-internet.com/metis/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/metiswebm.webm failed.
All candidate resources failed to load. Media load paused.

You could try testing for a plugin conflict. You can do this by deactivating all third party plugins, and seeing if the problem remains. If it’s fixed, you’ll know a plugin caused the problem, and you can narrow down which one by reactivating them one at a time.

    How strange,

there are no third party plugins installed really, only limit logins and wordpress importer.

Both chrome and firefox on linux are using the mp4 and they work fine. Is it that the .webm is still in the wrong format?

i’m getting rather infuriated with the video compatibility issue!

    cheers,

    Dave

I’ve re-done the webm and the ogv, hopefully the customer will see an improvement!

can you see any errors still?

    cheers,

    Dave

I do not see any errors and the video looks great. I hope it all works out with the customer.
