dje42ParticipantHello,
I’m confused about these two options in Customizer.
“Additional CSS” or use “Custom” which opens to “Edit Global CSS” ?and the big question is – are these two areas overwritten with any future updates??
I’ve just moved the content of both to my child theme, because …I don’t know or not?
Can anyone clear this up? What are best practices for using these areas ?
Thx,

Prasant RaiModeratorHello Dje,
Thanks for writing in! The Additional CSS tab is coming from WordPress. The Edit Global CSS is the one from the X Theme.
Both of this serves same purpose you can place your Custom CSS either of this box. But you might want to use the Edit Global CSS as you can expand it and can edit the CSS properly.
Cheers!

dje42ParticipantHi, thx for your reply, that helps but… it didn’t answer the big question..
– are these two areas overwritten with any future updates??

Thx,

JoaoModeratorHi There,
The only files that get overwritten are files that you change on the core of your Parent theme, that meaning, outside of the WordPress Dashboard , that is why a child theme is reccomended.
But If you for example add all your css on Appereance > Customizer > Custom > CSS
Nothing will be lost, I prefer to keep my CSS there, it is very pratical and I valorize that. Some people will argue that is more efficient to have it on the style.css of your Child Theme.
It is up to you.
Hope it helps
Joao
