    Hi there,

I am using the Renew stack and have just downloaded and installed the Renew child theme as explained in your video: http://theme.co/x/member/video-tutorials/child-themes/

After exporting the .json file from my Renew parent theme and importing it back to the Renew child theme, the style is just the same. Perfect.

Now here’s the thing: Of course, I want to copy all the other stuff (pages, menus, etc.) from the parent theme, too. So I exported the parent theme’s .xml file as well using the highly recommended WordPress Importer plugin and uploaded it to my Renew child theme – no effect. Tried this about three times, then looked back at my Renew parent theme, which looks rather silly now:

Pages/menus have been multiplied for the parent theme’s main page (as you can see here: http://www.sans-lorch.de/wordpress/), but on the child theme’s main page, it still just says “Assign a menu”. How come?

    WordPress version: 4.0.0
    Theme version: X Theme 2.3.0
    Shortcode plugin version: 2.3.5

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Naggennum,

    Thank you for writing in!

You didn’t have to import the pages, menus and other things again as those are saved in the WordPress itself and changing a theme doesn’t effect them.

I would like to see the backend of your website. Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:

    – Link to your site
    – WordPress Admin username / password

Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.

    Thanks!

    Hi Naggenum,

    Thank you for writing in!

After enabling the child theme, if your website shows “Assign a menu” in the place of navbar, you can simply click on it and assign the menu to your primary menu (see: http://prntscr.com/4lahcm)

Also I couldn’t check your backend as you didn’t provide username. Please confirm.

    Thank you.
