I would like to know what your recommendation is for the most optimal method for serving images or “Media” along with X.
I wonder if any of these options cause any conflicts with the way the theme is coded. The options I could think of are:1. Default WordPress settings with media in the preset WordPress folder
2. Setting up a subdomain for images and altering the Media folder in settings
3. Photon in the Jetpack plugin from Automatic (See http://jetpack.me/support/photon/ for info about how it handles images)Do you have thoughts or recommendation on any of these or another solution to optimize page/site loading speed?

It really just depends on the level of involvement you want to take with this. For most people, they don’t know/don’t want to bother with setting up cookie-free domains, using a CDN, et cetera, so they go ahead and just use the media uploader and that is that. There are certainly performance benefits to be gained by utilizing some of these different techniques. Subdomains are typically used as a way to set up cookie-free domains which eliminates HTTP requests saving bandwidth in the transfer. It really is up to your personal knowledge and desire to spend time setting up and managing these other ways to serve media.
Hopefully this helps. Do let us know if you need anything else.
