Hi, there. I have what feels like a silly question, but I’ve watched the slider tutorial video and I have yet to see the image size requirements for revolution slider in the video or in the X theme documentation.

How should I optimize images (w x h, 72 PPI?) used in slides for the fullscreen revolution slider?

How should I optimize images for retina displays for the fullscreen revolution slider? 150ppi?

    Hey there,

Thanks for writing in! This is not a silly question at all! 72dpi is pretty standard for web images, and that should be fine for most cases. Unfortunately, responsive images are a very difficult thing to work with at the moment, so ensuring that you have a larger image that can size down for mobile devices typically helps the most. For full screen sliders, we typically use an image about 1200px to 1400px wide and then adjust the height as needed (the image will stretch to fit its dimensions). We try to compress it to get the image down to lower than 180k if we can for an image of that size so the quality is still decent but the size doesn’t kill the page load. This size of an image sized down on mobile should look just fine as it will be compressed so much by that point.

Hopefully this all provides some more clarity on this situation, thanks!
