Good afternoon.
I’m trying to setup X locally using MAMP, to test and design the site before it goes live.
(I’ve got MAMP and WordPress installed locally fine).
I’ve read someones similar question on here and you said that it’s fine to do. Generate the API then remove it and apply for another one once the site goes live.
we’re advised to follow this process to enable us to register X for local hosting.
http://blainsmith.com/articles/quick-and-dirty-local-domain-names-for-mamp/I’ve instantly hit a problem when trying to follow this. As I have not hosts file inside my etc/ folder on my hosts domain. I’m showing all hidden items and it’s simply not there. Am I looking in the wrong place. Should I make a brand new hosts file?… I don’t want to break the website that is currently in place until my wordpress X one is ready to go.
Any advice would be very much appreciated as I’m eager to get started using this very exciting looking theme.

It’s not made overly clear on the quick and dirty link provided.

I haven’t done the product validation as I’m not sure what address i Would use, since it’s local.
Do I need to?

Thanks for writing in!
You can simply validate your theme with localhost url, i.e., localhost, local.dev, etc 🙂
For theme validation instructions, please review this article: http://theme.co/x/member/kb/product-validation/
Cheers!

October 8, 2015 at 11:24 am #616835If I want to develop my corporate site locally using MAMP at my-site.dev, then promote it to a staging server for review at staging.my-site.com (we use git), and finally promote that to our production server my-site.com, how many licenses for X do I need if I want to have these instances running in parallel?
Seems like the process of revoking API keys is a hassle, and won’t work if I want to be able to develop locally and have staging and production servers running.October 8, 2015 at 1:27 pm #617018Hi @bchatham
Thanks for writing in! You can generate API Key for your staging domain for now. When you are done with that and ready to move to your live domain then just revoke the API Key for the staging domain and generate it for the live site. So you don’t need to purchase separate license for this.
But if you need to run all of them in parallel then you need to purchase separate license for those. It depends how many staging site you are using. You need a separate license for each running site.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
