Hi
Please forgive my ignorance. I’d like to use shortcodes (in this case, I want to create a page and have a section with recent blog posts, so want to use the recent posts shortcode).
Where do I enter the shortcodes?
Thanks

If you edit your page with the Cornerstone, you can add the recent posts element:
Or add the recent posts shortcode(http://demo.theme.co/renew-1/shortcodes/recent-posts/) to your page content:
Hope it helps 🙂

October 8, 2016 at 2:36 pm #1208178Hi
I’m now trying to add content bands, which I can’t see as an option in Elements.I can make it work by copying the shortcode in to the page content in the wordpress dashboard as you’ve highlighted above, but then the changes are lost when I go back in to edit further details in Cornerstone.
Is there another place, within cornerstone, to add in the shortcodes?
Thanks
MimiOctober 9, 2016 at 1:04 am #1208507Hello Mimi,
Are you using Cornerstone in building your page? You can always insert a text element or raw content element into one of your columns. The shortcodes should work find and gets rendered if you insert it inside text element or raw content elements.
Please only use the shortcodes if none of the Cornerstone elements apply. There are tons of elements that you can easily drag and drop to the columns. And if there is a need for the shortcode to be use, then use shortcode only if necessary. For example, you want to display recent post items. You can simply go to Elements and find the recent post element, drag it and drop to the column you want it to display. No need to use shortcode for this. Unless otherwise, you can a customized recent post shortcode or a 3rd party shortcode (shortcode coming from other plugin), then that’s the time, you’ll need to have a text element or raw content element and insert the shortcode.
Hope this explains it briefly.
October 9, 2016 at 4:21 am #1208634Thanks very much. I’m using the elements where I can but couldn’t find an option for content bands.
Interestingly the shortcode worked when I pasted it into a text element, but NOT when I pasted it into a code snippet. Are you able to explain why? (just for my understanding for future)
Thanks
MimiOctober 9, 2016 at 4:38 am #1208643The code snippet is for displaying the actual code and not the code’s output.
Thanks.
