To Whom It May Concern:
Google search results are showing the publish date for my wordpress pages. How can I stop this from happening? I understand that posts generally show dates, but I’ve never seen this with pages. Could you please advise?
I followed the advice in this thread (https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/seo-date-appearing-in-pages-meta-description-of-google-search-results/) adding the provided code to the functions.php of my child theme and waited for Google to recrawl my pages; however, the date still shows.
For example, if you Google search for “white label link building” you will see our site with the date showing in the description: http://screencast.com/t/16bwGuqw9Bu
Would greatly appreciate your help.
July 1, 2016 at 12:24 am #1067973Hi There,
X doesn’t have meta date for pages. It might be cache or this might be coming from Yoast plugin. Please check this link:https://yoast.com/snippet-preview/. Check the part under The Date. Two of us check this, the others doesn’t see the date but I saw it.
Hope this helps
July 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm #1080415Hi Lely,
YOAST has been set from the start to not show snippets. Something is definitely wrong has the pages still show dates in Google Search Results. Please note, some of our WordPress pages show dates, while others do not. How can I remove the dates?
This has been an issue with the theme that others have experienced, as seen here: (https://community.theme.co/forums/topic/seo-date-appearing-in-pages-meta-description-of-google-search-results/)
However, that the solution in that thread does not work for me.
Please advise.
July 10, 2016 at 10:37 pm #1080740Hi there,
It could be due to cache too and if you’ll check your site’s source code through your browser (eg. Chrome’s view-source:https://www.ereach.net/white-label-services/ ), you’ll notice that there is no date at all, no “update” meta, no date meta, no 2016 meta, it doesn’t any form of date. All I could see is google tag manager that pickups the browser date.
If you’ll check this tool https://search.google.com/structured-data/testing-tool/u/0/, there is no date object that is detected on that page.
I use this tool to submit your site, https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/submit-url?pli=1. It will take a while to take effect on the search result.
When did you remove the date from your page? According to google, the cache copy of your page dates back 30th Jun 2016 07:18:07 GMT
Thanks!
July 11, 2016 at 11:56 pm #1082619Hi, thanks for the reply. Google has come around to the page again recently, July 11 (http://screencast.com/t/DTZ4gDIYYZ6), yet, the date still shows. This is getting frustrating. I have always had YOAST set to not show Date snippets on pages, so I”m not sure what you mean by when did I remove the date from the page.
In any case, I tried that solution in an older thread that I referenced before, and did that over a month ago. It didn’t work.
Any ideas?
July 12, 2016 at 6:39 am #1082948Hi,
you can try this third party plugin

Hope that helps.
September 15, 2016 at 7:30 pm #1177373Hi,
This thread is an old post, but even until now, even after updating the posts to more recent dates, the original date shows it Google search snippets. http://screencast.com/t/hT0jKOwj
I have no idea what to do here. The plugin you provided is for WordPress Posts. What shows up in the search results with the date is a WordPress Page–not post.
Any ideas why the theme is doing this?
September 16, 2016 at 12:29 am #1177737Hi There,
Would you mind providing us with login credentials so we can take a closer look on your settings? I can’t find any date on the source code. To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
– FTP credentialsDon’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.
