I look at the Vimeo great if you have $200 spare, but what’s the best thing to do create video via self hosting?? can you recommend any plugins? also what is the best format? I have a video which is 25 seconds long, 100MB and .mov
obviously thats too big and not going to work 🙂 so what is the best video format including dimensions and file size and finally again what plugins could do this for us using self video hosting??
Thanks
January 7, 2014 at 3:38 pm #4194we are looking at using the video as part of home page header like this http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/
January 7, 2014 at 4:23 pm #4203Hey David,
you don’t have to be a premium user of Vimeo to host and use videos on our slider. In addition to that you can host your video also on your web server, you don’t need any plugin or anything just paste the url of the video into the background video field in the Customizer. We would recommend using a screen resolution of 640px x 360px and keeping the file size as small as possible.
January 7, 2014 at 4:28 pm #4205and what video format?? .mpg4? .mov? .flash? java??
January 7, 2014 at 4:32 pm #4208David,
The .mp4 format is what you should use if you are not utilizing a service like Vimeo and self-hosting it instead.
Thanks!
January 7, 2014 at 4:58 pm #4211what file size if yours?? I manged to get it down to 1MB, and when I upload it, its not working 🙁
January 7, 2014 at 5:10 pm #4214Ours was a bit larger than that originally, only due to the fact that we were using a larger resolution for demonstration purposes. I’m not entirely sure of the size after compression from Vimeo.
Could you please elaborate a little bit more on how it’s not working and provide us with a link to your site so that we can take a look at it. Unfortunately, the information provided does not give us enough insight as to what might be happening with your video.
Thanks!
January 7, 2014 at 6:02 pm #4222Thanks fixed it! 🙂 got a better software to compress files
January 7, 2014 at 6:12 pm #4223You’re welcome! If you need anything else let me know.
January 7, 2014 at 6:26 pm #4229got it looking good, just my text looks good on full screen but the minute you shrink the screen, it goes really tiny and not in proportion to how it is when its big… so it looks awful 🙁 please can you advise me on how to fix this
January 7, 2014 at 6:32 pm #4231David,
We strongly recommend that users take time to read through the documentation for Revolution Slider as it is freely available online and will answer any questions you might have regarding the slider. Also, we have a video in the Video Tutorials section under Customizer that goes over the Sliders section of the Customizer and walks you through how to achieve different looks.
One piece of advice I can offer is to not use the Align & Position settings under Layer General Parameters as your positioning will not remain when you resize the screen. You will need to hand-place your elements by dragging and dropping them where you want them.
Thanks.
January 7, 2014 at 6:39 pm #4232Yeah I seen that, and I initially pressed center, and then manually moved them up, so they where centered, but manually moved up… so will that cause problems? really lost on this as I did manually move them up?
January 7, 2014 at 11:06 pm #4237David,
You will need to delete your layers and create a new one that you have not pressed one of those buttons on and make sure you manually center it. This is how we have created all of our sliders.
Thanks!
January 8, 2014 at 1:44 am #4255Ok will give it a go… what font style you using on integrity 1?
