December 5, 2014 at 4:33 pm #159157Care to share, please?? I have the same issue. How do you get it to work??
December 6, 2014 at 3:31 am #159384Hi there,
Please add favicon under Customize -> Site Icons.
When setting the path to your favicon, make sure you are using the “.ico” format.A 152×152 PNG should be used for your touch icon, and a 144×144 PNG should be used for your tile icon.Hope it helps.
January 3, 2015 at 6:29 pm #175843Here is a walkthrough for any (like me) that struggled to work it out. Hope this helps:)
1. Create a favicon to your taste and save as .ico file to your PC hard drive (youricon.ico)
2. Use your preferred ftp application (I like filezilla) to login to your website. You will require the information: Host, Username, Password and Port.
Host should be set to http://ftp.yoursite.com (yoursite.com will be replace by your website URL) and port set to 21. Username and password can be obtained from your website host. Contact your host if you do not know these variables or for further help setting up your ftp client.
3. Once logged in, you should now see a list of folders in you site such as: .appdata .cpanel .trash public_ftp public_html etc.
4. Using your ftp client, navigate through the folders of you site to: public_html/wp-content
5. (Optional) Use your ftp client (filezilla) to create a folder eg: uploadimages
6. Transfer your icon file (youricon.ico) from your PC hard drive into the chosen folder on your website.
7. You should now have a site structure something like: /public_html/wp-content/uploadimages/youricon.ico
8. Log out of your ftp client
9. Login to WordPress and enter your appearance customizer. Scroll down to site icons.
10. You will see Favicon (set path to image below)
11. Enter the following path: http://www.yoursite.com/wp-content/uploadimages/youricon.ico
12. Save your work.
13. Exit the customizer and refresh any site page.
14. Your new site favicon should be visible.January 4, 2015 at 2:14 am #176028Thanks for contribution ChrisHockings π
September 13, 2015 at 10:18 am #387322tanx Chris, that is a huge contribution
saying that i m a bit disappointed not being able to get a simple operation like this not working from the “customize” menu
i created the right sized favicon, 152 et 144 but they do not appear
does it mean i should go trough Chris process ?
best

December 6, 2015 at 12:03 pm #694423Hi,
I’m having issues setting my favicon I’ve followed all the instructions above and still nothing. It may be because of a favicon I set a favicon before I started using X?Thanks,
PascalDecember 6, 2015 at 3:39 pm #694566Hi There,

Would you mind opening a new thread and share us your admin credentials and FTP so we could check your setup.
Don’t forget to set it as private reply.
Thanks.
January 26, 2016 at 9:00 am #765001Thank you, ChrisHockings. You ended my struggle with favicon.
Staff, Themeco, a year since that reply had passed, but still there is no information about what Chris wrote in your Customizer, please add that in the nearest update. Would be fair.
January 26, 2016 at 11:44 am #765294January 26, 2016 at 11:49 am #765299Any plans on removing the proprietary favicon customizer and replacing it with the default one that WordPress added recently?
January 26, 2016 at 9:45 pm #766107Hi There,
As we already know, this is currently managed via X in the Customizer > Site Icons tab. We may plan on moving over to WordPress’ system for this, but at this time ours encompasses a wider array of situations and gives you more flexibility. We will keep our users posted on this if things change, but for now you can utilize Xβs built-in solutions for this.
Cheers!
