There are no references to the Responsive Lightbox element in the visual composer documentation, so I assume that this is something custom to your theme?

Once I have added the Responsive Lightbox element to my page how do I insert my galleries into it?

I am trying to create a page that has several thumbnails on it. I want each thumbnail to open a lightbox which contains a slide show with a unique gallery that is specific to that particular thumbnail, e.g., a thumbnail of a cat would open a full-screen lightbox slideshow of cats.

    Hey there,

You can read up an extensive write up on how to use the [lightbox] shortcode here.

    Thanks!

Sorry, I will try to be more clear with my question. I have read the section that you are referring to but my question is related to using the Responsive Lightbox element in Visual Composer. There is no reference of how to use this in the Visual Composer documentation.

Please see the attached screen capture. How do I add images to the Responsive Lightbox element?

    Hey there,

You do not add images to this shortcode. Please read the provided link as it explains how this shortcode works in detail, regardless of if you are using Visual Composer or not.

    Thanks.

I am very sorry, I misunderstood. I am new to using Visual Composer and I expected the responsive lightbox to work like the other elements where I could just drag or insert content into it.

    Hey there,

No worries at all! Simply wanted to make sure that you had taken the time to review the link sent as it explained everything in much more detail than I could type to you in here. Don’t hesitate to let us know if you need anything else. 🙂

    Thanks!

I have exactly the same problem. I’ve read the link provided by support, but all this link does is explain the ‘what’. It doesn’t explain the ‘how’.

As in, how do I add images to the responsive lightbox?

Those help notes do not explain the ‘how’.

    The notes say:

Setting up a lightbox gallery is incredibly simple when used in conjunction with our [image] shortcode. Anytime you add a linked image using this shortcode, your links will automatically have the x-img-link class applied to them…

Okay, how do you upload an image to a post and link the image using the lightbox gallery short code?

I’ve been using web sites for 10-years and if I can’t figure it out – even after reading the help notes – it is not ‘incredibly simple’. Feeling pretty disappointed with the lack of detailed help notes with X theme.

    Hey Thomas,

it is easy. You create the responsive lightbox element and the first field is the selector. The default selector is: “.x-img-link” so you remember this selector. Once you’ve added the lightbox you add an Image element and make sure to check the “Link” (Select to wrap your image in an anchor tag.) option and then scroll down to the Class field and add the selector class “.x-img-link“. That’s it. Now the image will be opened with lightbox.

I think what they are looking for is a Lightbox Slideshow where they can just drag images into it. I don’t think they want images all over a page. Maybe next version?

    Hey Dan,

Thanks for writing in and that certainly may be the case. X’s shortcodes have been built to stack together in multiple different combinations, so the fact is that you could create a slideshow of images that open up in a lightbox very easily using a combination of our [slider], [image], and [lightbox] shortcodes. We have the lightbox script setup in this manner to provide flexibility in what you can accomplish with it rather than have multiple different permutations of the same shortcode that ultimately limit your options of what is possible. We are always interested in feedback from our users and may see what we can do going forward, but we have also received countless reports from our users who enjoy using the lightbox shortcode in this way for the flexibility it provides. As you can see, ultimately there is no real “right” way to do this, it’s just a matter of how people expect to want to use a piece of functionality. All of these things can be accomplished with the shortcode, it is simply a slightly different implementation.

    Thanks!

mmmmm not all is possible with the lightbox shortcode. For example, if i want multiple images showing up in lightbox from a single image in a post i can’t do it right now =)

    Hey Fabio,

That is possible. Just add the rest of the images in a container with inline style display none like [container style=”display:none”] and your images will be out of view in the page but be visible in the lightbox.

    Thanks.
