Hello, My blog’s homepage is located at the main domain http://www.amandanicolesmith.com I want to change only the sidebar on the homepage. I have already made several different sidebars for other pages so Iunderstand how it works, customize the sidebar in the widget section, but there is no check box for the home page. I feel like I’m overlooking something so simple. Just to make myself clear, I’m wanting to only customize the homepage sidebar which will be unique from all the other page and post sidebars. Thanks.
March 16, 2014 at 4:02 am #23525Hi Amanda,
First you have to create a new sidebar in Appearance -> Sidebars. For the new sidebar you just created, make sure to check the Enable sidebar on blog index page option.
Then the next step would be to Appearance -> Widgets, and add the widgets to the sidebar you just created. Once done, you should be able to see the widgets on your homepage only.
Please do let us know if there’s anything else we can help with.
March 16, 2014 at 12:33 pm #23602There is no “Enable sidebar on blog index page” option. If you’re talking about the very first checkmark box that has no text, I already tried only checking that box and adding the widgets I want, and it still doesn’t show up correctly. Maybe I should just change the main sidebar and add a different one for all the others.
March 16, 2014 at 12:50 pm #23604Well my idea didn’t work and I still can’t find the checkbox you are speaking of. So I added a new sidebar that I called “All Posts and Pages (excluding homepage)” because I figured since the homepage was displaying the the “Main Sidebar” in the widgets area then I could just change that to the sidebar I desired on the homepage. But then the homepage acquired the “All Posts and Pages (excluding homepage)” sidebar.

I recommend that you update to the most recent version of X and X Shortcodes. And, you’ll want also to update the Revolution Slider and Visual Composer. It is included when you download the X theme.
Hope that helps.
March 28, 2014 at 7:53 am #27372Thank you for all your help and support. I am all up to date and my sidebars are working perfect! Unfortunately now my sub menus are not working, the mobile menu isn’t working and the top widgets won’t open.
I tried looking around for people having similar issues and I found the latest thread about the submenus not working. It seems they all had 3rd party plugins interfering and they didn’t update their short codes. I haven’t added any new plugins and they were working all together perfectly before the latest updates. Also I did update my short codes and everything else.
Thanks!
March 28, 2014 at 2:28 pm #27474Well now everything seems to work all of a sudden..:)
Hope the X team has a great weekend!

February 9, 2016 at 12:56 am #786661Hello X Team :). Following your instructions above…
I created a new sidebar,
I clicked to enable it on the home index page,
I set the page template to “Layout – Content left, Sidebar right”The result: a sidebar IS showing up but it’s the wrong one.
It’s the same sidebar as the one for the blog and isn’t implementing the new sidebar I created.Any suggestions?
Thank you whole heartedly in advance!
