I receive an Error 403: Forbidden screen in a page by HostGator whenever I attempt to Install any of the extensions in the updated X theme. Did anyone encounter this issue and resolve it? I would appreciate any help, thanks.

    Hey There,

It has come to our attention that some users who are with HostGator are having issues installing Extensions. It has been reported that they receive a 403 error page. We have looked into this and discovered it is a problem with HostGator’s server configuration. They are blocking remote file downloads that originate from Amazon S3, which is where we host all of our products. X relies on the TGMPA library for our extensions system, and there have been reports from other users as well which you can see here. We’re looking into any solutions that are possible from our side. If you’re experiencing this, you may wish to contact HostGator to see if they can lift the restriction for you. Additionally, all Extensions are included in the All files & documentation download from ThemeForest and can be installed manually if desired, or if a situation like this arises; however, automatic updates will not work for situations like this since it is due to a server configuration.

    Hi,

I hit exact same issue few days ago, and followed advise given here, asked them to lift restrictions and they did!

so, to make story short, point their support to this forum thread and ask them to check the mod security rules if any are being hit.

    Hey there,

Thank you for sharing your experience. Yup, asking the HostGator to lift restrictions would do.

    Thanks.

So there is still this issue going on? These messages were in Feb. It’s June now. I just talked to a not so techy tech guru of nothing and she said it was on your end?

    Hi,

For hostgator users, yes it is still going on.

One known solution is contacting HostGator support chat and making this request:
    “Please whitelist rule ID 1234234″

    Thanks

UPDATE: Call Hostgator and use the instructions above – Yes it worked. 12 minutes on hold, they logged into my WordPress install to make the fix. TIP: For those of you running in a shared hosted environment with multiple domains, this fix ONLY applies to ONE domain and not a global setting. Each domain on the shared host with the X theme install requires a call to support.

    Hi guys,

I also experienced this and so I contacted HostGator via their Live Help feature and simply said the following. Just copy and paste everything that’s within the stars:

    ****************************************

    Hi,

I have installed the WordPress theme Theme X and there is an issue installing the themes extensions.

    I receive the following error:

    ERROR 403 – FORBIDDEN

The team over at Theme X have said this is due to them hosting the extensions on Amazon servers and that I should simply ask you to do the following:

    Please whitelist rule ID 1234234

Can you do this for me please so that I can get onto configuring my theme?

    Thanks.

    ****************************************

    That should work for you.

    Cheers,

Hostgator is still blocking but contacting them and asking to whitelist rule ID 1234234 did the trick!

HostGator whitelisted the rule for my site, and I am now able to install the X extensions. Will I receive automatic updates for the extensions, or will HostGator’s server configuration cause problems with that?
