daviesandingramParticipantHi,
Im having problems with the site visibility since upgrading to WordPress 4.7.2 and X 4.6.4. I built the site on localhost and everything was fine. PHP version was 5.5.
When I load to the live site http://www.daviesandingram.com the homepage is not visible. The PHP on the live webserver is also 5.5. I have had to restore to an older version as I can not leave the site offline, however I have copied the files to a development area on another server so you can review. The license is managed to my localhost at the moment but obviously you can not see that site.
The copy dev location is http://79.170.44.90/sitetest5.je/
Please can you have a look and advise what we need to do with either PHP or settings within X so that the site displays on the live server.
Many thanksFebruary 3, 2017 at 11:34 am #1356974
RahulModeratorHey There.

The homepage looks fine here. See attached!
Would you mind elaborating it so we can better understand the situation, may be a Screenshot?
Thanks for understanding!

daviesandingramParticipantHi
Yes I know the dev server copy looks fine, the issue is that when I move the files to the live server at http://www.daviesandingram.com it doesnt display at all. The dev copy is just so you can see the code etc. Thanks

ChristopherModeratorHi there,
Thanks for writing in! After reviewing the information provided above, I would try checking with your hosting provider on this particular issue as it sounds like something related to your setup is causing this. Typically, this is due server configuration problems (i.e. underpowered, traceroute issues, packet loss, permissions errors, et cetera). Additionally, your host will be able to diagnose things much better due to the fact that they have a more complete view of your account and can work behind the scenes with you. If the problem you are experiencing persists after working with your host, don’t hesitate to let us know and we will be happy to assist you. Any relevant information that you can share with us from your host is also greatly appreciated as it will help us to better ascertain the source of the problem.
you can contact your webhost. Here is a form letter you may use:
Hello [provider], My WordPress installation is having a hard time making outbound HTTP requests. I’m using X theme and it makes a request to community.theme.co for setting up automatic updates. Here is the error message I’m receiving: [screenshot, or copy/paste the verbose error message (see above regarding the &x-verbose flag)] Could you please do the following? – Ensure my site can reach this domain: community.theme.co – Ensure cURL is working, and allow_url_fopen is enabled. – Ensure PHP is configured with the latest CA Root Certificates. Please advise on anything you discover. Thank you.Hope it helps.

daviesandingramParticipantHi
Does our version of X Theme use a script that makes HTTP (port 80) connections?
Heart Internet, the webhost, have asked this question as they have a policy that does not allow this type of script. Is this to do with automatic updates??Thanks

RadModeratorHi there,
Yes, it does, to be precise, WordPress does. X theme only uses the resources provided by WordPress, https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_remote_get. Though, I don’t think it’s related to your issue blank home page issue, sorry for the confusion.
And I checked your dev copy and live copy and working the same, the only difference are notices which due to enabling WP_DEBUG. And live one isn’t even blank.
Thanks!
