    Hello

We are running the following versions:

    WP 4.5
    X version 3.2.3
    VC Version 4.3.5

VC does not work. We also updated to X version 4.4.2 and lost all images that were being displayed on our website. Can someone please help me to fix this issues?

    Thank you,
    Sierra

    Hi Siera,

Your cornerstone is updated to the latest (1.2.4), but your X theme and visual composer are still old.

Please upgrade your X theme and visual composer, or if you don’t wish to upgrade it then please downgrade your cornerstone. Deleting the plugin through FTP and re-installing it in X’s Add-on page should downgrade it.

If you wish to upgrade while not sure about the compatibility, then please duplicate your site into staging/test. Then test the update there 🙂

    Thanks!

    Hi there,

You should have following version :
    X v4.4.2
    Cornerstone v1.2.4
    Visual composer v4.11.2

After updating X visit X addons page to install cornerstone automatically.
As cornerstone is replacement of x shortcodes, so delete x shortcodes plugin.

You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.

If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.

    Hope it helps.

I tried to update VC and it is not updating. When I select update it says successfully completed but it still stays at 4.3.5.

When I click on the plug in, it prompts me to their website saying I need to pay….I need help figuring this out because I have completed the steps you have advised on and it STILL IS NOT WORKING.

    Thanks

    Hi there,

Please follow this link and update X manually https://community.theme.co/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/
Then you should be able to update plugins from WP dashboard, if you still have issue updating your plugins, please follow the steps :

1] Please go to X Addons > Home and revoke the validation (https://community-archive-assets.theme.co/app/uploads/2016/04/17110514/Capture53.jpg).
2] Please login to your account and revoke the license.
3] After you have revoke the license, you need to re assign the license again to your site using this url: https://www.your-domain.com/. You have to make sure that url you just assign is the same as the one you have in your settings, Settings > General > Site Address
4] Go back to X Addons > Home again, and insert the license again.

And please review the changes that we made on how you are going to validated your X theme because we made a big change in the process. Please check it out here: https://community.theme.co/kb/product-validation/

    Hope it helps.

We completed the above steps to validate x and we are still unable to updated VC. It leads us to a page to pay to upgrade VC. I am not sure what needs to be done still to resolve this issue.

    Hi there,

You’re still using X v3.2.3 while there is update available in WP dashboard, please check the link and attachment http://carsonteam.com/wp-admin/update-core.php

Next navigate to http://carsonteam.com/wp-admin/plugins.php and disable x shortcodes, see the second attachment.
After all if you’re still unable to update VC, please backup your site, provide us with FTP credentials and give us permission to update it for you.

Note that updating X and disabling x shortcodes plugin are necessary.

    Thanks.

    Hello Sierra,

Please make a backup copy of your site first. This is a must before updating X and Cornerstone to avoid any inconvenience and it will also enable you to go back of something is wrong after the update. You have given us ftp access. Does this mean that you allow us to update X?

And by the way, with the release of X(4.0), you have to deactivate and delete X Shortcodes 3.0.5 plugin. Please take note that X shortcodes 3.0.5 and its functionality has been consolidated into Cornerstone which you can install by going to X Addons > Extensions. To know more about Cornerstone, please check it out here: http://theme.co/blog/x-version-4-introducing-cornerstone/

    Thank you.

We backed up the whole site. Please go ahead and access the account. We did deactivate the shortcodes…that did nothing for us 🙁

    Thank you,

    Hi there,

I doubt this will be quick change because your X theme is really old. There will be data and structure conflict with your old settings. High chance that it will break most of it when we do it.

That’s why we don’t recommend to update websites that run on old versions. What we recommend is clone the live site into staging site, and test the update there. It may take a while fixing any issues. How about cloning your site? I don’t feel comfortable testing the update on your live site, especially that I’m not sure about the time estimate.

You can also request a rollback to your hosting where your WordPress version is still lower than 4.5. Your visual composer breaks because you updated your WordPress. And that has chain effect, and you’ll need to update everything. Rolling back is the best option for now, then do the update on a cloned site.

    Thanks!
