ethos stack: changing header logo shows on the preview, however will not save.
I disabled the cache, emptied the cache, restarted, logo is a png as others were and
which is the stubborn logo which won’t leave. Size is approx the same.
What gives?
thanksOctober 30, 2014 at 9:10 am #135182Sorry I can’t find how to edit the stubborn logo. But I forgot to mention that this is a local install.
localhost thru MAMA pro. Which is what it was all along.October 30, 2014 at 12:07 pm #135308Hi there,
Would you please read this troubleshooting guide and see if it hrlps:
http://theme.co/x/member/kb/solutions-to-potential-setup-issues-customizer/
If not we will need to see your dashboard to be able to help youm that is why we recommend that you upload your website to a temporary server so that we can investigate more.
Thank you.
October 30, 2014 at 8:11 pm #135556OK, So I figured it out, why I don’t know if you do please let me know.
I deactivated 5 plugins and reactivated one by one checking if I can save the logo upload.
The one that created my problem is: Akismet!!!
NOTHING was changed on Akismet, all default. To clarify: localhost using MAMP pro, so maybe Akismet gets screwed up???
I honestly (but not 100% sure) that I had had Akismet activated before and all worked fine
so, confusing unfortunately.Anyone have any thoughts?
All looks fine now.October 31, 2014 at 4:05 am #135713Hi,
That’s strange, Akismet shouldn’t be a problem for xtheme.
Can you confirm that you are fully updated? (Theme and Plugins)
You can find the latest version numbers here: (http://theme.co/x/member/changelog/) Then you can compare them to what’s installed on your site.
If you find anything to be out of date, you can review our update guide.
October 31, 2014 at 8:58 am #135867According to my WordPress update page, on Oct 31, 2014. Theme, Plugins and WordPress all is up to date.
Steps taken:
I deleted logo image
Saved w/o logo
Re-Activated Akismet
Uploaded logo
Saved w/logo
Still Would not retain upload, even though on preview it shows that it is there
and it says Saved. Also opened page in separate tab in browser to confirm. After closing the customizer and reopening without doing anything else It would show that the logo was now not there.
I repeated this to confirm.FYI: the plugins were: Akismet Version 3.0.2, All in one Favicon Version 4.3, Conditional CAPTCHA Version 3.6.3, Contact Form 7 Version 4.0.1 and Force Regenerate Thumbnails Version 2.0.3.
One thing I failed to mention, even though the Akismet is activated I do not have an Akismet account, since I am developing locally. So at the description of Akismet it appears activated, however at the top is a banner that says:
Almost done – activate your account and say goodbye to comment spam.
Hope this helps.October 31, 2014 at 11:05 am #135951This seems to be possibly a caching issue. Could you clear your cache and see if this solves the issue?
October 31, 2014 at 1:39 pm #136058No, as mentioned in my first post: “I disabled the cache, emptied the cache, restarted,” And now all is well
as long as I don’t activate Akismet, hopefully once I create an account it won’t happen.October 31, 2014 at 3:44 pm #136135Strange issue, let us know if you encounter any issues with this here on. So that we can investigate further.
September 11, 2015 at 11:28 am #385910Adding onto this …
Found the same thing – latest version of X, using Agency expanded demos.
Agreeing with Themeco staff that (for me) it was a caching issue.
This with WP Super Cache not activated. But – the default setting of caching was on. Every time I deleted cache – this would ‘refresh’ the logo and would work. When I turned default setting off and deactivated – this worked every time.
Hope this helps.
September 11, 2015 at 3:32 pm #386094Hi @shamrockoz thanks for your input.
Yes, at times cache would be the reason why changes made does not show up. We do recommend that to clear caching plugin, and disable it during development. This can cause Customizer changes to not take place on the front end. It will eventually show up when the cache regenerates, but it’s not ideal if you’re looking to see your changes immediately. Caching plugins are best to turn on only when you’ve finished building the site.
