ViktorParticipantHi,
Recently added WooCommerce shortcode to show 4 most recent products on homepage. When I do google’s pagespeed insight , I am getting terrible results due only to those for images. In the /shop/ the pagespeed score is fine, but now for some reason on the frontpage it has decreased from over 90 to 54% again due to those images not being scaled. What is the best way to solve this?

RupokMemberHi Viktor,
Thanks for writing in! You are using very large images and seems those are not optimized. Let’s not use that larger dimension and try to optimize your images before uploading. You can use http://compressor.io/ to compress the images without loosing quality.
Cheers!

ViktorParticipantHi!
Yes the images are large and they kind of need to. When viewing a product it is important for customers to see the small details. They are compressed already and I don’t have this problem in the regular shop? We’re thinking of scraping the “recent products” on the frontpage anyway but it would be nice to know for the future.

JoaoModeratorHi Viktor,
You might want to upload different versions of the same image to use around your site.
If there is some cases like you mentioned before where you need it to be in detail but woocommerce automatically uses on recent products for example, I would simply go with it and ignore the google warning, I dont see it as critical, it is a recommendation but it wont be this alone that will make your site have a significant lower rating at the end.
Hope it helps
