Hi,
I’m getting Google crawl errors for pages/categories/tags that are X specific (e.g. portfolio-item/sierra-farm). I’ve deleted the original pages/tags etc. Is there a simple way to not get these crawl errors? I don’t see these things in my sitemap…
I’d appreciate any guidance.
Thanks, Neil

February 5, 2015 at 6:08 pm #200105Hi there,
I dont see those from your site. If it’s not present at your sitemap, then that means that are actually not present.
Could it be that the crawler is still seeing the cache version of your site? Could you provide the exact crawl errors you’re seeing? I’ll check if this is related to X permalink, or to the crawler which we can’t offer support.
Would you mind providing us with login credentials? To do this, you can make a post with the following info:
– Link to your site
– WordPress Admin username / password
– FTP credentials
– Details of the error, screenshot or exact wording.Don’t forget to select Set as private reply. This ensures your information is only visible to our staff.
Thanks!

You can try this third party plugin to locate and remove the broken links.
https://wordpress.org/plugins/broken-link-checker/
Hope that helps.
February 6, 2015 at 3:01 pm #200722That didn’t find any broken links – but remember the crawl errors are from old X-pages…which I’ve deleted. They’re somehow hidden in the background and causing Google errors…
