Hello,
I’ve experienced two internal server errors today trying to work on my new website. The first one got happened when I upgraded the X Theme and I was able to fix it by re-uploading the x-shortcodes folder.
I just installed the woocommerce plugin and I got another shortcode fatal error. I re-uploaded shortcodes as well as the whole x theme and still have this error:
20140427T005525: connectechsolutions.com/wp-admin/index.php
PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare x_shortcodes_init() (previously declared in /hermes/bosweb/web199/b1991/ipg.connectechsolutionsc/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/x-shortcodes/x-shortcodes.php:40) in /hermes/bosweb/web199/b1991/ipg.connectechsolutionsc/wordpress/wp-content/plugins/x-shortcodes/setup.php on line 53What’s going on?
April 27, 2014 at 1:45 am #37638I’m trying to edit my post to clarify that this error only happens when I access the dashboard, but the website itself is still up and running with no problem.
The edit functionality of this forum doesn’t seem to work.
April 27, 2014 at 1:58 am #37641update: I just deleted the WooCommerce folder from under plugins and the dashboard started working again.
Not sure why, but if this is a problem with this theme…please fix it, as I really do need WooCommerce. I don’t have a lot of plug ins either, so I’m not sure what’s going on.
April 27, 2014 at 7:06 pm #37777Hey Justin,
Please try to disable 3rd party plugins first. Also, we recommend that you update X and the plugins to their current versions. Please see http://theme.co/x/member/kb/updating-your-theme-and-plugins/ for instructions.
Hope that helps. 🙂
April 28, 2014 at 10:12 pm #38341Hello,
Is there a way to disable plugins except from the dashboard? If there is, I’m not aware of a way…and it seems you may have missed the explanation that this happened during my updates to the latest version. So, I currently have the latest version of the theme, but when I try to add WooCommerce I get the Fatal error as described above.
I can’t disable the plugins to fix the issue, because the dashboard is not accessible with this issue.
April 28, 2014 at 11:23 pm #38377I seem to have found the problem.
After I deleted Woocommerce, I was able to get to the dashboard again.
I had the x-shortcodes plugin 2.0.10 installed previously, then I FTP’d the 2.2.1 shortcodes and so both shortcode plugins showed up in the list of plugins. However, the 2.0.10 one was deactivated, whereas the 2.2.1 was active.
When I saw the duplicate, I just deleted the 2.0.10 one and noticed that both got deleted by doing that.
So then I installed the 2.2.1 shortcode via the dashboard plugin installer and then I installed Woocommerce, and now it works fine.
April 29, 2014 at 1:05 pm #38582Hi Justin,
Great to hear it’s working for you now! This was actually due to a structural change made in 2.2.0 (http://theme.co/x/member/forums/topic/release-notes-x-v1-8-4-x-shortcodes-v2-2-0/) It was made when we updated X Shortcodes to support auto updates. If you updated over FTP it was possible to not completely overwrite the old version, resulting in a conflict. Now that you’re fully updated, you should be good to go!
