Hi,
In one of you training videos for installing child themes you mention “exporting options before installing theme and then reloading those options into the child theme once installed”.
How do I export the options and settings (and possibly the customizer additions i have made) so that i can migrate the site I created to a live hosted space?

July 14, 2014 at 6:57 pm #68615Hi Simon,
At first make sure you’ve activated all the same plugins in live site as like you’ve in local.
1) There is export Tool in Customizer Menu, direct link: http://pamela.simonramsey.com wp-admin/customize.php?page=export (File extension .json)
2) Click on ‘Download XCS file’ into your computer, now go to live site, install X & import this file using Customizer > Import, direct link: http://pamela.simonramsey.com wp-admin/customize.php?page=export
3) Now, from local site Export all of posts, pages etc & download the exported file. The default Export Link is under Tools menu. Read more about it here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Export_Screen (File extension .xml)
4) Now, go to Live site & Import the downloaded .xml file into it. Read more for help here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Tools_Import_Screen
5) Now, got Appearance > Menus of new site & create menus like your localsite.
Hope these helps, Cheers!
December 16, 2014 at 6:28 am #165461I am still unclear where to access the export option on the customizer. When I tried copying the link above (tweeked to match my URL) I was told I didn’t have permission.

Export option is located under X Addons -> Customizer Manager.
Thank you.
