Hey Dscuba,
Thanks for writing in! Regretfully this isn’t a feature offered by X. It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer, or a service like WerkPress or Elto to assist you with this. X is quite extensible with child themes, so there are plenty of possibilities. Thanks for understanding. Take care!
December 3, 2014 at 1:41 pm #157684I’d also like to vote for an update to the way category filter works. The default should be all – with a filter when the user selects.
December 3, 2014 at 5:07 pm #157838Hi Ran,
I Just sent a request feature regarding this. We certainly appreciate the feedback! This is something we can add to our list of feature requests. This way it can be taken into consideration for future development. All of these items are discussed with our team internally and prioritized based on the amount of interest a particular feature might receive. Thanks!
Cheers.
January 22, 2015 at 10:09 am #189137Another vote for an “All” filter default. One that shows the recent [5, 10, #] posts in chronological order from all categories.
Ethos1 is an incredible magazine theme! All the bells and whistles you could want inside a beautiful design, but missing that default functionality is kind of a dealbreaker for bloggers. Sad.

Thanks for your feedback! I’ll forward this to our development team.
Cheers!
April 13, 2015 at 6:00 pm #248814Searching for a way to “Alphabetize” Ethos 1 Filterable Index per category.
Our portfolio is a beer index of our physical stores inventory, so we need to create an alphabetized index for each category, to make this user feature user friendly. Thanks for any suggestions!
April 14, 2015 at 12:31 am #248944Hey Murray,
Please open up a separate thread. The longer threads get in the forum, they become more difficult to support as they tend to drift off topic and they also make it troublesome for users trying to search for solutions. Keeping threads relevant to their original inquiry ensures that we can keep better track of what has been resolved and that users can more effectively find answers to similar issues they might be experiencing.
Thanks!
June 18, 2015 at 3:14 pm #306426is it possible (or within the scope of your support) to have the “All” selection that appears by default after making the adjustment to _index.php be sorted by date only as opposed to category & date?
So if there were two categories, the posts would be mixed and displayed based on post date by default.
I noticed that you said this should have been the default from the beginning without any sort of dev work, but I can also confirm that before making any changes to the _index.php, only posts from the first chronological category were being displayed as opposed to displaying a mix of categories. This is how the general blog normally behaves without using the filterable index (this is using v4.0.1 of x theme)
Thanks

We kindly ask that you open up your inquiry in a separate thread. June 21, 2015 at 10:05 pm #308874lol no problem — I felt this was still relevant to the original post

We will help you with your own topic.
October 26, 2015 at 6:26 am #639799Hi charlie, Am sorry to intrude on your thread. i went through your site and i see something am trying to do but am unable.
how did you manage to organize the filter menu into buttons and a heading? (screenshot below)October 26, 2015 at 8:17 am #639917Hi @wayinke,
Thanks for writing in!
This is a very old thread and Charlie may not be able to respond. However, he’s using custom CSS code to customize the display of filter items and headline. You may use custom CSS to achieve similar styling. As this would be a custom development, regretfully, it would fall outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this.
If you have any additional questions at this time we kindly ask that you open them up in a separate thread.
Thanks!
January 29, 2016 at 4:19 am #770307Hi I’m adding my vote for a regular chronological display of blog posts with filterable index with page navigation, too! I would have loved to use the feature but it’s just not ok that when the Filterable Index feature is turned on, the blog index will show only the posts from the 1st choice when filtering and no page navigation.
Thank you!
January 29, 2016 at 7:10 am #770541Noted. Have a great day!
