Hello. Is it possible to design the frontpage of Ethos 1 like any other page, with cornerstone? How can I do this?
June 19, 2015 at 10:20 pm #307579Hello There,
Thanks for writing in!
Yes you can. You can also make use of the Ethos 1 demo content. Please go X Addons > Demo Content and select Ethos 1. If you already have other page, you can simply create a new page and edit the page in Cornerstone. You can simply copy each of the elements using Cornerstone and you can do it in less than an hour.
Let us know if this has been helpful to you.
June 20, 2015 at 8:07 am #307842Ok, so the website is this one: http://www.allpachaski.com
I would like to, as you sugest,”simply create a new page and edit the page in Cornerstone”.
My question: How do I make this new page into the frontpage for the website?Thank you
June 20, 2015 at 7:26 pm #308082Hello There,
When you have your newly created home page, you can go to Settings > Reading > Front page displays > Front page: and select the page you just created. This what we did in Ethos 2 demo.
If there’s anything else, we can help you with, please let us know.
August 5, 2015 at 11:33 pm #351531Dear Staff,
I am going to come across as a total idiot for asking this, but when it comes to WP and X Theme, I am a total idiot right now.
What is confusing me is how to go about editing the front page of the Ethos Demo Content #1. Where do I start if I wish to change the elements on the first page you land on, when entering the site, with Cornerstone?
If I go to my Dashboard I can navigate to pages but there is no “Home” page for me to edit. So where is all the code for that page you first land on when you go to my website? How to I start editing that landing page with Cornerstone??
What am I missing here? I know these questions will surely help someone else who is blindly trying to create the world’s next best site like me, so please do help me out!
My website by the way is http://www.youropinion.co
Thank you,
Richard!
August 5, 2015 at 11:39 pm #351539Hello Richard,
Thanks for updating! After selecting your homepage from Settings > Reading > Front page displays > Front page go to Pages > All Pages from your WordPress Dashboard
You will see your Home Page as Page Name – Front Page
This is your home page. Let’s edit it with Cornerstone to change the content.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
August 6, 2015 at 12:11 am #351560Hey Staff member,
Thanks very much for the quick reply. I am sure if you guys keep this level of service up I’ll be buying your theme for my other two sites in no time!
So to clarify, there is no way I can go about changing what’s there without creating a new page first to act as the home page, which I can then edit with cornerstone?
How have ThemeCo been able to make it look the way it does though? Is that just a deeper level of coding that’s integrated in the theme itself?
I can my flaw in understanding this stems from my flaw in understanding how WordPress operates, and how a theme works in conjunction with WP.
Thanks again,
Rich!
August 6, 2015 at 12:31 am #351573Hello There,
You have two options to have your homepage. One, create a page, edit it according your desired layout and make it as your own homepage. Two, set the blog index as your homepage displaying the latest posts. If you want to edit this page will require coding or template customizations. WordPress handles the settings and management of your content, the theme (like X) is a skin or provides a template on how your content will be displayed.
Regretfully, at this time I am not entirely certain what it is you would like to accomplish based on the information given in your post. If you wouldn’t mind providing us with a little more clarification on what it is you’re wanting to do (a link to a similar example site would be very helpful, or perhaps some screenshots), we’ll be happy to provide you with a response once we have a better understanding of the situation.
Thank you.
August 6, 2015 at 1:32 am #351619Hey staff member,
For now you’ve answered everything I needed to know and I really appreciate the work you guys do!
I will be sure to ask more questions as I have a better play around with WP and X, and I am equally sure you guys will have a solution to my problems at hand!
Cheers,
Rich!

November 25, 2015 at 11:25 am #679170Is there no way for me to get that ETHOS DEMO: HOME to show up in my pages without totally messing up my current settings?
I would love to adjust some of the elements of my current front page which lists the latests posts, such as: add additional full width sections, but I don’t want my site to be down while I make these changes.
any advice?
November 25, 2015 at 12:56 pm #679277Hi there,
The homepage if the Ethos Demo is not editable in Cornerstone. It uses a template files which you can customize but unfortunately, it goes beyond the support with can offer.
If you cannot do the customization, you can create a new page that will and use Cornerstone elements to build the page.
