Hi,
The recent posts shortcode by default does not contain excerpt, author name, category name and you need to add a feature image
for an image to appear instead of the red block.http://theme.co/x/demo/integrity/1/shortcodes/recent-posts/
It could be possible with custom development, but this would be outside the scope of support we can offer. You may wish to consult a developer to assist you with this.
With regards to Display Posts Shortcode plugin, regretfully, we cannot provide support for third party plugins or scripts as our support policy in the sidebar states due to the fact that there is simply no way to account for all of the potential variables at play when using another developer’s plugin or script. Because of this, any questions you have regarding setup, integration, or troubleshooting any piece of functionality that is not native to X will need to be directed to the original developer.
Thank you for your understanding.
May 4, 2016 at 6:33 am #912270Quite honestly, I am beyond disappointed that the X Theme will not provide what appears to be basic customization. I purchased the X Theme under the premise that the Theme is fully customizable and that I don’t need to know any code.
This would be the case if the recent posts shortcode (or some other customization) would allow for posts to display exactly as the user wants. Why require a feature image and why exclude the excerpt. This really doesn’t make any sense.
From what I’ve seen from other requests, this appears to be a highly sought after feature. If you ever-so-kindly offer a solution, this would be not only helpful to me, but to many of your other paying customers.
I am willing to modify my .php files to make this happen. Please provide some code that I can introduce such that I can include dynamic content (full category posts; just as they appear on the blog page) on a static page.
May 4, 2016 at 9:50 am #912573Hey there,
What you’re looking for is an advanced post display plugin. That is beyond the options offered in X as that involves dynamic layout and functions. X offers pre-built designs and the Cornerstone page builder with which you can build custom static layouts with the exception of the Recent Posts element which includes pre-built layout options.
Thank you for understanding.
May 5, 2016 at 12:24 am #913807Does this mean that X Theme will not offer any customization of the Recent Posts? And that if a user wants to have any dynamic content on a static page that the only option the user has is to use the Recent Posts with only a featured image, no excerpt, and not all of the meta data?
If this is so, please confirm why X Theme was designed with such limitations? If everything else can be so customized, why not allow for customization of this one feature? This would solve a tremendous amount of problems for many users.
May 5, 2016 at 6:04 am #914111Regretfully, that is the current design and features of the Recent Posts element. The limitation is because of potential styling issues that might be introduced. A similar request has been added to our list of feature request and discussion of adding flexibility to the Recent Posts is still in progress. We’re sorry that you are frustrated but please stay tuned for news and updates.
Thanks.
